Replacement battery options

Post by KimC »

Has anyone come up with an alternative battery to replace the FONZ125S1 72V 46AH battery? A friend has a Fonzarelli E-Scooter and the battery is end of life. Looking for ideas as the genuine is quite costly. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum KimC, depends on what is considered "quite costly" as to the viability of building a one off battery using different chemistry cells. Depending on the room available, it would be possible to build a sodium ion celled battery that would most likely perform better and charge faster than the original battery ..... as to the financial viability of injecting that cost into an already older bike is an unknown and really in the heart of the potential owner, EV conversions and battery upgrades never meet the wallet test

Thanks for the comments guys, the original battery is 8-10 YO, so possibly end of life, but my suspicion is that it was allowed to drain to dead flat and has not been able to recover. Not how you treat EV's! ABC - Always be charging.

Well the cylindrical approach is working quite well for the race bike batteries, so it may be viable to develop something to slide into the same case.
Can't say its all that cheap though, no doubt a bit cheaper than new at least.
