C40

Post by navydiver »

Thought of moving to Volvo as my highway speed driving and my 2020 MG XS ev do not find 200ish km really suitable ( Fine in the city speed places) 30,000km of close enough just not really enough!

XC40 and C40 ev are now about. C40 for immediate almost got me to test it. News Volvo may be bringing a Geely radar https://www.drive.com.au/news/geely-rev ... ctric-ute/ had me wait a bit. The Chemotherapy express the MG has been doing is over so the frequent long drives do not need immediate action. With Volvo options growing to XC90 .... and maybe the Radar which just might tow 300 ish km I will wait a bit longer

c40 and xc40 do look very nice I thought

The FWD C40 looks good but be wary of the range of the AWD XC40 as it is not very efficient at speed so would be unsuitable for towing distances. (Using speed as an analogue for greater inefficiency when towing)

TeslaBjorns range test @ 120kph yielded 224km. Was cold and rainy but not particularly good for a 78kWh battery. The EV6 got 274km. Still not great. Seems you are going to need a 100kWh battery at least for towing really.

That was timely of Bjorn. Towing with an ID Buzz cargo. Albeit unladened and not especially big. Still did not get near 300km
