I wonder if that is the start or the end of 2026? Maybe the last imports in 2025 and 12 mths to clear the stocks of ICE models.

This is another aspect of the story
https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... will-allow

Interesting comment near the end
"Car companies will point to all their petrol vehicles as an indicator of customer demand but they’re not telling you people are walking into their dealerships and asking for electric vehicles every day.”

Why do we still expect dealerships to want BEVs in their showrooms ?
Their greatest threat is the very product they’re being forced to sell (hidden away somewhere and needing you to ask for).
Just imagine what the Service and Spares management think of their future prospects…….if they aren’t electrical/electronics qualified.

I do agree, but that quote is concerning motor vehicle manufacturers and importers. They want to sell vehicles, and to tell the world that people want to burn petrol and diesel regardless of the price. Reminds me of tobacco companies, soft drink manufacturers, coal exporters and so on.
Here's a better story https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-11-12/ ... /101525942 about starting at the lower end with electric vehicles.

Nobody wants to dump on dealerships - but it IS the elephant in the way of manufacturers surviving the unmentionable WMD brand. They claim continued demand for the tailpipe because the dealerships are now starting to tell them porkies………and they know it.
