Kona (10A) standard EVSE not working on Leaf
Kona (10A) standard EVSE not working on Leaf
Hi,
I bought a spare Kona EVSE, with the intention of lending it to my friend´s to use on their Leaf. Unfortunately, it seems to initially connect, but then drop out.
Anyone know why? The Charger is a Yuka, standard fitment to a Kona.
(Regards, Doug, a Kona owner)

My guess is, it is a new LEAF, or else the plug would not fit.

Yes, Gen 2 Leaf, only few months old.

Interesting not working with Leaf. Have to try mine on a non Hyundai EV myself.doug wrote: ↑Wed, 30 Sep 2020, 16:43 Hi,

What was the EVSE worth from Hyundai Doug?
The MMAU ones were bonkers pricing.

Thanks all. I bought this one s/h for my friend with a Leaf. I will try running it up on the OpenEVSE emulator (which I have).

Hmmm. Best l try the Kona portable (Mode 2) evse on the new Zoe. .. might be a while before the Zoe needs a charge though. (It came new at 70% charged from the dealer and we are in Melbourne ...! )

Yep - just tried the Kona portable EVSE on the Zoe. Works perfectly.
My Mode 3 (fixed 32A) was a bit cranky with the new Zoe though - took a few tries to get the EVSE to talk nicely to the car. (And the Zoe is now pulling almost 8kW from my 7.4kW EVSE ... the vagaries of modern electronics ...

Re: Kona (10A) standard EVSE not working on Leaf
Sorted problem: I was not aware that the offending Leaf was set to charge Off-Peak. Set to Immediate & all OK!
(So Kona charger does work with Leaf)

Re: Kona (10A) standard EVSE not working on Leaf
BTW: if you want to do a one-off override of the off-peak setting in an older Leaf, hit the override button AFTER you plug the Leaf in. (Took me AGES to work that one out!)
