So this official looking website, which professes to know all about all, has the Tesla M3SR+ as being no more efficient than it’s dual motor version which has a 50% larger battery capacity and conveniently goes exactly 50% further.

With equal efficiency, both 250Wh/mile, an EV with a 50% bigger battery SHOULD go exactly 50% further.
Did they get the battery size wrong?
Interestingly, if you choose metric instead of imperial, their efficiency are slightly different?
I love this website. A great place to see all EVs (only the ones available in EU but that is close to all of them).

Two motors increases your power losses which are generally considered to be around 20% (in this case x2 for the dual motor) and confirmed by the EPA’s figures......it’s basic physics.
The linked site is just rubbish AFAIC.

Sorry! Well that won't happen again as they fixed both cables and took the opportunity to set both of them to Tesla only. Disappointing.
And yes my parking technique was getting more and more inventive as the cable deteriorated more and more. Another month and I would have had to park my car upside-down to activate...

That depends upon whether core (magnetic) or copper (resistance) losses dominate
going to two motors doubles the (usually minimal) core losses but halves (ususally the more substantial) copper losses
going to a larger motor, or two motors tends to have higher efficiency across the operating envelope except at very low load (in which case in the two motor case one can be powered down)
