Bushbus and my gumtree stuff around. Bushbus needs cells

Post by Dan007a »

I just bought 34 lifepo cells on gumtree .But seller promised bushbus the same sale.
In turns out Bushbus is in desperate need for new cells for his house power south of Perth.
Can anyone help in locating some good cells (he has cash waiting).

Cheers mate. Proper stuff up ay. Hohum. Can't trust some it seems!

Anyway, as Dan kindly mentioned above, I'm desperately looking for lithium cells for an off grid system, I've got very limited sun hours so need to be able to stuff a heap of juice in to my batteries quickly. My poor old wet cells are now absolutely stuffed so am open to ideas!

I've got a heap of 18650 cells but don't have the time to cycle and put them together in to packs so I'm looking for large packs if possible.

Cheers in advance, nice one!

I've messaged a few folks on here but they seem stuck in my outbox and not sent, I'll try again so my apologies if you receive multiple messages!

It's a quirk of this forum software. Messages stay in your out box until the recipient reads them. That way you can tell if someone has read the message or not. It just looks like it's not sent.

What system voltage are you running?
What gear is installed currently?

How much capacity are you looking for?

Antiscab, I'm running a 24v bank of 1080ah wet cells that are over 10 years old.
I need to get away from lead as I'm limited to a few sun hours a day, even with the tower I built to get my panels higher up and over the tree line.
Capacity isn't set in stone but I guess 5-8kwh absolute minimum, obviously a lot more would be more comfortable!!
Cheers for your interest, nice one!

I have some LG E63 cells that I can sell if you wouldn't mind using pouch cells.

Here are the details of the cells:

The pouches are A$64 each.
If you read the thread there are some pictures of how to connect them together.

Cheers mate. I'll pass on the details to a friend who may be interested.

I've thought about it and I think it's as much work as getting my 18650 pack together and I just don't have the time or brain capacity at the moment.
I'll keep hoping for some decent lifepo4 like the bus cells or the ones Dan007a got in the end.

So, you are looking for a min of 200Ah @ 24v nom. of LiFe cells? 3.2 x 8 x 200 = 5120Wh. How many $$ do you have to spend? Freight might be the killer here, but I expect I could get a set up using good second cells up and running at a reasonable cost.

I think it is much easier than using 18650s.
If you want 200Ah you only need 3 cells in parallel. If you use the clamps I got you just need two bolts per join.
As long as you don't need cooling then packing the pouches should be easy.
