I've got my Kona

Post by Clintsc9 »

Hi All
New here looking to share our Kona EV experiences. The other Kona topic seems to be a bit long.

So I've had my Launch Edition for a week or so. Apparently the first one delivered from Keema Mt Gravatt.
Very happy with it and so far not missing the extra goodies on the Highlander.
Jet Charge to be installed next week.

We did a day trip Brisbane to Toowoomba then return via Hampton and Esk. A total of 315km and used 66%.
Recharging in 3 pin took 21 hours
We picked Toowoomba as there is a Qld Gov Electric Hwy charger there, but we didn't bother using it.

A couple of pics taken beside Wivenhoe Dam.

Congrats! Still waiting for mine. (I foolishly have specified my interior and exterior colours!).
BTW: Am finding my long lost range anxiety is creeping back as I wait eagerly for a 400 plus km range 😊
Cheers

3 pin is only 10 Amp. Just your average household plug.
The battery is 64 kWh. 150kW power so it gets up and boogies when the pedal goes down. ;)

Was going by keema before and saw a couple being shown over a white Kona Electric on the footpath. So maybe they're not hiding them this time.

That white one is their Demo. It's a Highlander version. We had a test of it then were shown the only other one delivered at that time, a red Launch Edition parked out the back still with the plastic covers. Its now ours.

Hey Clinton,

It's a 4-seater, right? No one ever shows photos of the back seat!
cheers

Yes Tonyw, it is a four seater. However we should be aware that it is a small car, a compact SUV is I think the official term. So the rear seats, although capable of seating two adults, would not be comfortable for long trips in my opinion.

Most compact SUV would be 5 seaters though. Is there no centre belt in the back?

I think I'd call that a "two-seats plus room-for-a-child's-booster-seat".

Thanks for the pic.
cheers

Brilliant! Thanks for that info!

I'm expecting delivery of my Kona mid to late June, and have been checking out charging points at some of the local shopping centres. Most seem to have Tesla destination chargers. I had wondered if their Mennekes plug would work on the Kona. From what I understand it can be a bit of a hit and miss, but your post has given me more confidence I'll be able to park/charge/shop without worries.

So you reckon 16.5kWh/100km for a trip to Bunbury at 100kph?
