Zero motorcycles don't use an auxiliary battery either... They got through somehow.

Actually, no road ev bike has, aside from perhaps conversions

What voltage are most ev bikes? 48v? Because if so then that's low voltage anyway.
Also the 12v battery regs are for cars, bikes are a grey area on ev compliancing, so that's another loophole.
And also also what year were the bikes complied vs year the ncop14 was put in effect?

Vectrix is 125v nominal, though it is customary to put in 140v nominal.

The ego is 300v

Zero is 102v nominal

I guess if the rationale for the 12V secondary system is to allow things like hazard lights and door locks to function when the drive battery is isolated, then it makes sense not to apply to bikes that don't have any of that stuff anyway.

ADR19 6.9 re the indicators used as hazard warning.
Seems there is NO requirement for the bike to be OFF and flashing.
ie the bike can be ON to flash unlike a car.

So there is NO requirement to have a 12V battery.
Other than isolating the HV traction pack.
But hey if they want 300+ volts running around the bike 24/7 that's their choice.

So I retract my statement about aus compliance.
Not safety tho...
