ELMOFO Electric Radical - Debut Race - SuperSports
The ELMOFO electric Radical had it's debut race in Round 1 of the NSW SuperSports State Championships on the weekend just past, 18th May 2014.
The ELMOFO Radical is the only electric powered vehicle in a field of petrol powered cars in Race 1 of Round 1 of the NSW SuperSports State Championships.
The car performed great during practice, qualified 3rd (of 7) in it's class and was positioned 5th (of 9) on the grid for the start. The 2 front runners are super-light and fast Stohr racers which are in a different class to the Radicals.
The torque of the electric drive enabled Garth Walden to wheel spin his way to the front of the Radical field which he led for the whole race until the last 150m where a battery related technical issue caused a sudden power drop and let 2 cars pass just before the finish line.

It certainly was. There were smiles all round. I have relived it quite a few times too.

Awesome stuff! Very excited to see it performing so well. Once the technical gremlins are worked it, it'll be a force to be reckoned with. Just don't pull an Audi and get EVs banned from the series by being too fast

Its great that you are in a position to take the lead on this.
If an electric can go head to head with fossil fuel burners and have a winning edge, that's really the beginning of the revolution!!
Congratulations to you.

Go you good thing! Pure electric mixing it with the ICE merchants, what's the word 'disruptive'? I guess the wining edge is lurking in there in the margins Brett. Do you use regen in the race? If so is it variable from the throttle or brake or a fixed amount? Apologies if I'm asking after trade secrets here, just fascinated if the extra stopping power of regen is as important as the down low torque? All the best for your exploits.
