Electrikhana 2014!

When?
March 8th, 9 am to 5 pm

Where?
RAC Driving Centre, 46 Grogan Road, Perth International Airport

Why?
So you can test-drive and test-ride as many electric vehicles as you can fit into one day!

Now in it's 3rd year, Electrikhana 2014 promises to be the biggest one yet, with a whole day of electric vehicles, stalls and activities planned. This year we've invited any business or NGO in the sustainable living / renewable energy sector to come along and showcase their wares. We hope to run a door prize as well as have a few little fun competitions

. We're also hosting an information session on the WA Electric Highways project.

Holden, Nissan and Mitsubishi will be there with their respective EVs. I'll be bringing Voltron-Evo (batteries sold separately) and several electric scooters will be available for a test-ride.

Entry for the day is $4, entry plus unlimited test-drives is $10 and if you're an AEVA member, it's free! A barbecue and cold drinks will be available. All proceeds from the day are returned to the Perth branch of AEVA so we can make next year's event even better without nagging National for more funds.

The host thought it was 8 feb, but realised it was in march.
With feb having 28 days. 8 feb and 8 mar are the same day.

It worked Joseph - Just had an interview with Noongar Radio! I love that station.

Graeme Gordon had a good chat with the Australian importer of Zero motorcycles and there might be a chance they make their Australian debut at Electrikhana!

I'll try. The Melbourne firm who are brining them in are expecting the first shipment in mid March, but with a bit of luck they can have one here sooner. It's just great that someone with the bucks bothered to import them.

Hi Matt,

Unfortunately Zero can't get a bike out in time. They were pushing California to fly one out, but they eventually decided it will have to wait. With the Model S, the i3, Zeros and Brammo all appearing in Oz this year, Electrikhana 2015 is going to be huge.

We can expect a Tesla Roadster or two - and apparently on the same day there will be a Ferrari and a Lambo kicking around on the circuit. I can feel a challenge coming on

Well a big thanks to all the Perth AEVA members who pulled together to make this the best Electrikhana yet!

It looks like over 350 people came through the gate, and at least 150 of them signed up for test-drives of the iMiEVs, Leafs, conversions, bikes and scooters. I even got a ride in Hans' Tesla Roadster - what a treat!

Best of all there was a very strong media presence, with the 7:30 report preparing to file a national story due to air late this week. Their story is pretty wide reaching, with a strong focus on our Electric Highways project!

Zoom TV were there to get a short interview of me and the race bike too, although Aaron took about 137 takes to remember his lines... RTR took an interview too, which will appear on Understory in a few weeks time. So keep an eye on the TV and an ear to the radio!

I'd like to personally thank Ant and Mitch for pulling it all together while I was working offshore last week, and for getting all the fabulous posters made up. Thanks also to Bruce, Steve, Brian, Joeseph, Patti, Tanya, James and Richo for keeping things flowing smoothly on the day, EV-Works for bringing the all important BBQ, and all of our exhibitors for making the day a jam-packed success.
