SEA - Nissan Leaf Drive Day - November 29th
Hi Everyone,
The AEVA (Perth) and the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia have reciprocal membership, so we are pleased to cross promote their Drive Day at the RAC driving centre near the International Airport.
http://www.seaaus.com.au/
The Sustainable Energy Association are a peak industry body representing the interests of the renewable energy sector, and any supporting industries and corporate entities. They have a whole stack of corporate members, including Nissan. Nissan have really been pushing their Low and Zero emissions technology platforms, and of greatest interest to the AEVA membership, their Nissan Leaf.
SO being a platinum member of the SEA, Nissan are offering a test-drive day which includes a lunch, speakers and best of all, special member-only deals on Nissan Leaf purchases.
So I strongly suggest you sign up to be an individual member of the SEA and take advantage of the deals on offer. SEA membership for individuals, sole traders and small businesses is $176.
http://www.seaaus.com.au/
Non-members are welcome to RSVP as well, but you might get dirty looks when you stuff that third canapé in your mouth. However, as EV evangelists we can still encourage family and friends who are considering buying a Leaf to attend and maybe even take advantage of the deals.
Hope to see you there!!!
Chris

Bugger... knew I should have waited a little longer.
In light of this, I wonder if it is worth my while to back out of my current contract to buy with Nissan.
Anyone have any idea on the what the 'special deals' are likely to be? If they are just going to through a few free accessories etc then I would probably just go with the current contract.

Ring Magic Nissan and ask the direct question about special prices for SEA members. It may just mean the vehicle comes charged. Knowing some SEA members the 'special' may be off RRP +10% anyway.

Bookings can be made here:
http://www.trybooking.com/Booking/Booki ... ?eid=68225
If you know someone who is in the market for an EV, wants a new car, and doesn't want an iMiEV, let them know about this event - it could save them a bucketload of cash. Attendance is free.
Oh, and do remember this is Nissan's day. Turning up in an iMiEV or converted car is only OK if you park down the road

Well the deal is alright - $37,800 and 5% finance, valid to SEA members for a period of 90 days. Better than a poke in the eye with a forked stick anyway. I gave one of the Leafs a bit of stick in the wet, confirming their traction control is pretty good, but there is still some significant understeer. Joseph even did some Tokyo drifting with the handbrake Not sure the dealer was too impressed, but we sure were.

Yes
I am happy to report that the e-brake works.
It will lock up the rear wheels.
Just pull the switch up and disregard the warning beeps.
I did ask Kirsten if it was ok to test this out. And she said that this is what we were here for. I shall now keep my eyes peeled for drifting leafs.

Yeah they told us that Australia will only get the top of the line, no base models will be on sale here

I'd trade all the 'top of the line' features for another 50km range. There is only so much that trees gowing on the instrument cluster helps with pushing the EV !
The manufacturers know so much more about markets than us plebs. Just look at the sales.
