What about 4 link, m/cycle gas rear shocks/weight supports and a Norton Commando type engine mount at the front of the motor or even your ball idea but mounted on the horizontal no vertical plane with the ball mounted in a viscose fluid type mount similar some of the front wheel drive vehicle engine mounts.

The Wheels and Live axle/diff are 100% unsprung weight (Depending in on tyre pressure and profile.)

Soon as you mount the motor to a towball or rubber style engine mounts at a third pivot point then you have reduced the moving mass and the enertia.
Especially the transverse rotational movement when only one wheel hits a bump.
If the whole axle is rigid to the frame the tird pivot is the front wheel suspension suspension frame.

The motor is over 80kg but you still need to build a torque tube to the diff/axle that can support 250Nm

If you keep this rigid to the Diff/Axle housing then the springs wont take the load of this torque.

If your Trike is meant for 1/4mile drags not road use then keep your focus on rigid rear as you will save in overall weight.

Have a look at FWD engine mounts. They usually have a large rubber bush in a ring that allows a fair bit of movement in all directions.
If the front of the motor was mounted on one of those I think it'll allow enough movement in all directions - as long as your trailing arm pivots are in line with it.

I'm concerned you are going to use the motor housing as a stressed member.
Is it capable of this, I have seen others doing this in car Engin bays but it is not so closely linked to wheel vibration.

I think it needs to be sitting in a u-tube with support at both ends.
This tube needs to extend back to the rear axle for a rigid mount.

Had a look in the sketchup library site for suitable downloads to play with.
But no luck yet.

Tried pulling out the rear axle from this and shove a 11" x 16" can on it.

Was wondering if the diff can operate upside down.

The oil may need to pool on a specific side, but I thought it was worth suggesting.

It would lift the motor above the bottom of the diff and protect it.

I think you were worried about this earlier.

I was wondering how they handled with such a ridged rear live axle setup.

It looks like just a solid single trailing arm.

Stabiliser bars are interesting thought.

I worry about torque steer.
I wonder if there are Diffs with two spur gears on either side.
This would allow two motors that are counter rotating.

Does your diff/axle have a cover pannel on the rear?
I've only seen pictures of the side withthe Ali Casting to hold the spur gear ( or is that a pinion gear) Memories gone.
Looked it up .... Hypoid.

I wonder how a dual motor setup could drive the Diff ring with two Hypoids on either side so the motors are counter rotating and balancing the torque tube stresses. My preference over Dual Single Spindle Combos.
But if one motor fails the balance is lost. So maybe thats why single axle is chosen too.

Are you getting ahead with the chassis design?
Have you allocated a battery space/volumes?

This trike is for the road or the strip or both? If it's primarily for the strip I would be seriously looking at the 4 link set up so the ..... forgotten the name for it, centre of axis? but the point where the lines cross so the leverage point can be moved up or down and forward or backward allowing the loading on the rear wheels to be tuned. Excessive load and either you will flip over or axle tramp will rattle your brains but insufficient load will result in nothing but wheel spin.
The fact that you have the diff centred is a little concerning, the load up on the left hand tyre and unloading of the right hand tyre may make steering in straight line very difficult. The old Torana's with big power motors suffered this rather badly and would turn left on rapid acceleration.

The pit marks are a result of a dirt contact between the claims and rim when the centres were welded in. The grounding cable must haye been attached to clamps and the pit marks are caused by arcing across the dirty contact.
