Warning: Autolink update has stranded Kona/ioniq cars!
Please be aware that the Auto Link update on 3rd June has disabled 5-6 Konas and Ioniqs when used to remotely start the car. Reported on Hyundai EV Enthusiasts Australia (Ioniq & Kona) Facebook site. Cars needed flatbeds to tow them to dealers
Cheers,
Brian

Re: Warning: Autolink update has stranded Kona/ioniq cars!
So early indications point to a failed remote start request to the cars via the Autolink app which has sent junk to the cars OBD dongle (via the Autolink backend) and stranded them. They don't go into ready mode and/or select gear.
HMCA are aware of this issue via socials and hopefully they come clean what caused it.

This is a very embarrassing f'up! And will be a very costly one too.
I use it most weekends to warm the full car to the enjoyment of the whole family.
Did Hyundai give you an idea of how fast this should be corrected?
In the mean time, many thanks to Brian for broadcasting it. I would have been one unhappy Jan as well if it wasn't for him.

The App problem version is 1.0.19. If not too late, turn your auto-update off.
I'm still on 1.0.18 but not game enough to test it during a long weekend...
And I'm also on-call so I can't afford car problems.
If anyone used their app without any issues in the last 48 hours, could you share what version your are on?
You will find it under "Configuration", "Program version".

I don't think it's app related as IOS and Android users were both affected....EVdownUnder wrote: ↑Sun, 07 Jun 2020, 17:19 The App problem version is 1.0.19. If not too late, turn your auto-update off.

Re: Warning: Autolink update has stranded Kona/ioniq cars!
One owner who is 500km from his dealer tried uninstalling the app, rebooting his phone (iphone in this instance), reinstalling the app, then doing a remote start and remote stop which were successful. Then went to the car and it started up normally.
I tried this as I had nothing to lose and the remote start and stop were also successful. The reinstalled app is version 1.0.18 so they have obviously canned the update
Dont know how my car is as its 300km away at the dealers

Re: Warning: Autolink update has stranded Kona/ioniq cars!
I have an incident after trying to warm up the car with app (version 1.0.19) couldn't start the Kona EV. Faced a 100 km trip to service centre couldn't be organised till Tuesday so Long weekend without a EV. After 5 hours waiting/testing and phone calls to Hyundai for the RACV tried jump start.
I eventually resolved it. I pulled out the auto link dongle shutting down the car etc. Waited for a few minutes then plugged it back into the OBD connector where it came from, then after rebooting the phone started sending commands eventually set it to pre heat the car for 5 minutes while I sat in it it seemed to work, heat came on then turned off. Pressed the start button and the little green car icon was illuminated so I was able to drive the car.
Prior to all the problem i was getting failure messages from the app but seems alright now..

Re: Warning: Autolink update has stranded Kona/ioniq cars!
I note that a new version of the Autolink app was released in the last couple of days (for iOS). v1.2.3. So, a couple of questions...
1) Did anyone notice if was there a new Android one as well?
2) Did the folk who had problems have the recent software update (to the car, not the app) installed?

I just got off the phone with Hyundai to book my 30k service and they confirmed that even though my Android app is still at 1.0.19, this issue was fixed late last week.
And I will have an electric Ionic for the morning

Lucky! When they did the free inspection on my Ioniq they loaned me a Tucson. What a boat that thing was. Once you drive electric everything is just so... archaic!
