Kona Highlander EV - driver's door won't lock

Post by NickJP »

Our Kona - just over a year old - has suddenly developed a problem where, when you lock the car either with the keyfob or by pressing the button on either front door, the two rear doors and the passenger door lock, but the driver's door doesn't lock. Nor do the wing mirrors swing in on locking. The only way to lock the driver's door is to extract the physical key from the keyfob and use that, and once the door has been locked by that means, it can only be unlocked the same way. Anyone heard of this problem before?

I've booked the car in for the dealer to have a look at the problem, but they're flat chat and can't see to it for a week and a half.

Could just be the motor in the door. Did the mirror fold stop at the same time?

It's not just the mirror in the affected door. The passenger side mirror doesn't fold in either, even though that door remotely locks/unlocks OK.

I wonder if the affected motors have separate fuses. Cars seem to have a lot of fuses these days.
MG ZS EV 2021 April 2021.
Nissan Leaf 2012 with new battery May 2019.
5650 W solar, 2xPIP-4048MS inverters, 16 kWh battery.
1.4 kW solar with 1.2 kW Latronics inverter and FIT.
Patching PIP-4048/5048 inverter-chargers.

I booked it in to get fixed, and the diagnosis is that actuator has failed. They have to order one in, so we're stuck with the problem for another week...
