Wow, thanks for that.

I think it's interesting that they put the half-packs in series for 800 V charging, but in parallel for traction (and presumably for non-ultra-fast DC charging and AC charging). 800 V electronics must still be too expensive.

They say it can be used at a 350 kW charger, but don't actually say (unless I missed it) that it can use all 350 kW.

I hope that those LG cells will be available for other EV manufacturers to use.

I was thinking the same thing.
Why not just make the whole car 800V all the time. But my guess of the main reason for 400V is the <350kW charging is easier/cheaper. 800V all the time would limit charge rates on lower DC chargers (like the taycan does) as it has to go through a buck/boost converter

there might be a motor insulation element to it too - higher dc bus voltage means a higher dv/dt, which is harder on insulation

I just heard the price, $112,500usd for the top of the range and $80,000usd for the base which won't be available until 2024.
For reference the Cybertruck is between $40,000usd and $70,000usd.
And the Rivian R1T is between $70,000usd and $80,000usd

GM are going to be in for a hard sell, especially once the rivian is out which will capture all the people who don't like the look of the Cybertruck

I wonder if Arnie is already in line for one? ;-)

Apparently he has already been seen testing it around Wagga Wagga.

I think I like his original one better.
