SEA Electric Truck in Perth

Post by adam lippiatt »

Riding to work I saw a delivery truck which was an SEA electric truck. The first I have seen in Perth.

I sent a note asking about it and got a call from the corporate headquarters of the delivery company and whilst they knew about the trucks the person I spoke to didn't realise there was one in their Perth fleet (owner / driver contractor model).

The guy I spoke to was very aware of the need for change from fossil vehicles but noted some barriers including capital cost (yes) and interestingly the cost of electricity. He was an ex finance guy and was very open-minded and curious on energy production even after he declared his view that we wouldn't get cheap non-polluting power in Australia until we had nuclear energy.

Has anyone seen one of these trucks around?

Thats great that an owner driver has invested in an electric truck

the economics must really stack up if they're willing to put their own money on the line

It would be great to hear more about this truck. Maybe someone can track down the owner driver and get more info.

Don't know if it's the same truck or not but I saw a SEA truck parked up outside of IKEA (after they were shut) next to some other delivery trucks, so it (or another one) might be part of the ikea delivery fleet
That was back just before Christmas.

Definitely need to target trucks, coaches, buses, utes, vans, 4wds, suvs and other bulk diesel vehicles. Would be good to have the exhaust blow right in front of their faces.

The company, Kings, does work for IKEA so that may be the same truck but if one, why not two. :D

If it is a 4.5 tonne GVM truck then if diesel it wouldn’t qualify for fuel excise rebate so that may be on the value stack.
