Model 3 SR+ Review experience observations

Post by g4qber »

most efficient production EV - 141 MPGe
https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/topten.jsp

Joe mode - great for sleeping kids and people with sensitive hearing
hold mode - One pedal driving - Just like a LEAF
hill hold - H with Circle shows up
Auto high beam
Mobile phone as key or credit card sized rfid
motorised charge flap
a light in the boot - don't think this was present in model S
folding mirrors as standard
vent mode
speed offset
Onboard Cameras Used as dashcams
Sentry mode
Rear view mirror doesn’t squash other cars into model Ses
https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads ... ode.59838/
Bug report - just say “bug report” and the bug when using voice recognition.
Headlights and high beam Good
Steering wheel rumble/vibrate Warning when crossing Continuous line
Autopark
Close windows remotely via app
No charge flaps to bother with
Audio subdued when opening doors
Speed sensitive Audio volume level

Negatives
Vampire drain, but not as bad as original model s; turn off sentry mode for home
No grab handles
Piano black surface for centre console
Can’t set cruise control to Car speed in one step if speed is slower or faster than speed limit in car’s database; need to use scroll wheel to set the speed
Trunk/boot release gets dirty/gritty
Phantom braking
Bluetooth audio lag - didn’t happen in my other evs as much
Dirt on rear doors
Too easy to turn on high beam, hence use auto high beam

Hi Joseph

Do you have an estimate of range on the freeway PERTH climate (for comparison with their NEDC estimate)?

Thanks

If anything it would be better - warm climates make for lower impedance cells.

https://ev-database.org/car/1177/Tesla- ... Range-Plus
315km real world range according to this page

GOM at 90% has been 346km today 340km.
Extrapolating this becomes 384km to 377km

CNBC’s Jim Cramer did a big number on fossil fuels last night -“I’m over fossil fuels, they are tobacco “.
This is a big deal because CNBC is about as amoral as any investment channel can get when it comes to making a buck.
Joe Kernen’s response would have been interesting.

Doesn’t anyone know what the dimensions of the hidden sections under the boot cover are L/W/D ?.
I’m wondering if the mini BBQ will fit in there.

Hi Nagaman
Dimensions of the Model 3 hidden sections under the boot cover are L/W/D = 67 x 47* x 31 cm
*Measured in middle at widest section ie for oval mini BBQ max diameter

Thanks for that Peter.

On another matter, I’m not too keen on sun glare from the piano black central console and wondering if matching wood trim would work in keeping with the Swedish theme.
It must be something nobody wants because I can’t find much choice in that.

Can someone confirm that the SR+ does not have fog lights.
Apart from a cornering function that my Citroen had, I’ve never actually needed them because super dense fog doesn’t seem to be around much these days.

Nope, the SR+ in Australia does not have fog lights. There were some in the very early deliveries (Aug/Sep 2019) that had them.

I guess with the adjusted pricing just announced the SR+ will be subject to a higher luxury car tax.
We were lucky it seems.

Is there a way of storing ‘favourite drives’ as opposed to destinations ?...........the ones that don’t usually take you the shortest or fastest route.

Hi Nagaman
There is a Tesla Australia slack group.
Perhaps best to join it and ask question there?
As there don’t seem to be that many Tesla owners on these Forums ... yet.

Yeah, I’m trying my best to get some life into this forum and for the life of me I don’t understand why it’s so dead.
Is there some Australian ‘knockout’ forum somewhere else?

Well after approximately 6 weeks of hearing about constant updates I’ve gone from 8.3 to 12.11.1 but it won’t understand roundabouts simply because America doesn’t DO roundabouts.........so it is confirmed that the US is the only market for future FSD revenue.........or for resolution of any of our regional issues.

To be fair, Australian drivers don't do roundabouts either. :?

While somewhere in America is probably going to be the first for FSD I think it's going to be a way off before they have collected enough data for it to work anywhere in the States and there is a hell of a lot more data coming in from that market compared to RHD markets with different road structures (and more specifically in this case, the Aussie market)

America has very few roundabouts .........cos it requires judgment I suspect.
Judgement isn’t their strong suit.
They do guns however.

Well thanks to Andy, the Teslander YouTuber, we now know that autopilot will drive on to the wrong side of the road and happily stay there until you realise what’s going on - at least this is (not unexpected) news to me :

So yesterday we had a speed recognition problem (60 instead of 100) which, inspite of rebooting and locking etc, persisted for 30 kms and included google map loss (but retaining navigation) only for it all to return to full functionality northbound leaving Girgarre on track to Echuca.
This has never happened on this route before so remains a mystery, at least to me.
Speed zone failures are on the up for us.

Just got OTA update 16.2.1
Has anyone else got it ?
Hopefully it’ll be relevant to these speed issues and cornering.

Tesla observations

Tesla AutoPilot (AP) Gotcha
One big thing that can be bit dodgy is that the tesla will automatically indicate for you if you are in AP; without Navigate on AutoPilot (NoA) turned on.
This can appear to be like a BMW driver who indicates even when they don't intend to change lanes.
Hence, I tend to wait quite a bit after merging onto freeway / tonkin kwy before activating AP, else you may get drivers trying to let you in.
