What we know:
- Manufacture has started; 50 cars have rolled out already.
- The base price is $35k US, which is about $46k in AUD. Excludes GST, LCT, Stamp duty, rego, insurance... Call it a $60k base model.
- The long range price is $44k US, or $58k in AUD. Likely to be $75k in AUD.
- Base model will have 350 km range, longer range 480 km. Call it 300 and 400 km range on the highway.
- It will work with superchargers, and will no doubt work with ChaDeMo adaptors. The supercharging ain't free.
- No towbar. I'm a little miffed about this, but they might have options later on.
- It will be in Australia early 2019, so that's another 18 months of saving.

From reading the RACQ pages on towing, and checking out a few 3rd party towbar maker sites I am starting to think there's no need to wait for a Tesla factory one. Hopefully with enough units shipped before the RHD we'll see someone step up and offer something even if Tesla doesn't.
Or is there something I'm missing that prevents a 3rd party coming up with one before the OEM?

I think the car is allowed to be sold in the country on the premise that it performs "as described". If that included a tow bar, then you can drive one without a tow bar, but you're also able to fit one. If it enters the country without a towing capability described by the engineer, then you're not permitted to fit one. If you do fit one, all insurance and warranty is void.
I wonder if you co9uld get one fitted and have an engineer sign off on it?

I placed my order 2 weeks after launch. Happy for the saving period. Hopefully more options by then and a real World Series of reports. Tow bar would be most desirable! Essential really. Range is good. Cannot decide on colour but as Pearl white is the white that is a likely but to get heated seats you get glass roof grrrr but early days yet ... so if heated seats require glass roof then I might as well go for Blue or Black

Re: Model 3 details firmed up
The same as servicing the existing Tesla.
For small jobs they come to you (Ranger service) and for big jobs you go to them (even in Perth, where they have temporary space @ McCarthy Prestige until they have their own space)
