i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
Or perhaps it popped when the new charger was first powered up

Yes, they did speculate on that in their notes, but from what I've read it seems it is very common for that fuse to need replacing when the charger fails, and it is actually a fuse for the charger despite being located with the MCU. I think some people claimed to have fixed the charging issue by just replacing that fuse, but it seems more common that there is another issue causing the fuse to blow. It definitely seems like the Mitsubishi diagnostic material should give a higher priority to checking it.
You could use the unofficial diagnostic material on the i-miev forum, but that is getting in need of a clean up too - 33 pages and counting.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
After a few wrong turns and detours our imiev is now fully charged again! Hurrah!
Without the detours we needed to replace two capacitors in the charger, and the on board charger (OBC) fuse in in the motor inverter. Knowing what I now know it should be a weekend job.

I have the impression the dramas we've had are not so much due to having an electric car, but due to having a rare car.

You may be right.
But i think I've learnt enough to fix it all myself now!
Also found the charger is significantly cheaper at amayama!

The reassuring thing is we've gone from stories of being unable to fix anything due to VIN locking to seeing examples of quite a few people fixing things themselves.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
A couple of nits. You keep talking about the DC-DC converter, but the actual repair is of the charger (which is an AC to DC converter). There is a DC-DC converter in the same box, but it's underneath the charger in its own compartment.
The parts to be replaced were described as resistors initially, then capacitors after that. They are capacitors.
I realise that editing such things is non-trivial, so this is not really a criticism, just information for interested readers.
The pace of the video is quite high; it makes a pleasant change from the long drawn-out videos where people seem to drag things out. But I think that the ideal pace is a little slower than yours; there are a lot of important points you touch on (where the radiator coolant switch is, all the various connectors, and so on).
Thanks for making this video, and I hope you find the footage for part two.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery
thanks, im not a fan of long slow videos, and yeah, at the time when we filmed this, i wasn't quite sure of the actual component name, and im still learning to edit, and record voiceovers etc,
Im not sure how the next one will be, as it was a while ago now, and we filmed it with just an overhead gopro camera.
the only part i forget to film, was the fuse blown in the motor controller box. but i think i might have filmed that with the footage i cant seam to find..
