...and the on road costs ?
number plates and 6/12 months rego assuming they aren't already rego'ed, stamp duty, nothing else surely. J, you could check on that.
Thoughts wander to buying one to hack into battery charging / addition etc. i.e. forgo the balance of warranty and get stuck into the mods.
It would be hard to start an EV conversion while these little beauties are on the market !

That's what I was getting at . A breakdown of all the EV parts sure would add up. If you were to purchase the same spec and quality aftermarket.
A small rwd kit car or grafting the drive line into something more spirited and getting the weight down well under 1000kg would be great. I once pulled the engine and sub frame out of a 84 civic and grafted it into the rear making it mid mount RWD. It was a hill climb/track car after that but I'm sure it could have been street legal if that was the aim and you took the steps to do so.
Every time I look under our Imiev and see Just how simple drive line, battery layout is the fabricator in me starts to come out.
I just feel its all begging for a better chassis.
Or even if you didn't have ideas of another EV using the parts . Im sure the parts alone would break down to cover the cost . There will not be to many Imievs in the AU wrecking yards in years to come to scavenge parts from. They just didn't sell enough of them. I would hate to pay list price on a new door or interior part. Not to mention a main EV component.

It's a shame these deals don't exist in NSW. All the good EV stuff seems to happen over in WA

You wont be getting the deal for very long. I see the run out stock is as a very limited opportunity. They would have to be all but sold by now would they?

...there are still 34 listed. Starting at 17990 s/h in W/A, then various from about $25K.
I would be offering less than that if buying now!
regards Doug (satisfied at $25K on road in NSW)

Good Second Hand Deal Eh? At $19000 I should have blood on my hands,...just received 2011 Sat Nav Spec with 4000K's.
Goes just like you guys say it does,... way cool. As mentioned, Perth cruise is clearly on the cards.
Cheers

The 34 on carsales was down to 32 when I looked a couple of weeks ago and now down to 28 since I signed the contract to buy one yesterday. Mine (demo, white, MY12, with sat nav, built 6/2011, 3850km) was listed at $29990 but the presence of another nearby listed at $24990 got that price matched. Someone else in Canberra had one trailered to Canberra to get the colour she wanted without great expense.

So the test will be when a private iMiEV owner sells their vehicle. That will be the true second hand as I guess all so far have been new, ex-demo or ex-fleet.
Does anyone know of a private vehicle sale second hand ?
Hey Peter, can you define those 'recycled electrons' in your signature ?

I expect many of the same ones used last time I drove the car have been pushed back to the other side of the battery during charging to be used all over again!

Ok I get it. Since the EV charger contains a magnetically coupled isolation transformer then the same electroncs are being pushed back and forth in the battery chemistry.
Maybe a long bow to draw though since recycling implies to me that something that would normally be thrown out gets re-used.
So that is why batteries die with cycles. The electroncs get worn out.... the ones in a LA battery also get lead poisoning so you get less cycles.
TIC Maybe a case for bad boy chargers ?
Your line sounds good for the renewable argument. I'll try it out.
If it falls over I'll mention your name.
