Free screening: "Revenge of the Electrc Car"

Post by coulomb »

Local Power and QUT Science and Engineering are very pleased to present a free community screening of the new documentary "Revenge of the Electric Car".

Image

It's at 7pm Monday February 13th 2012 at GP-Z411 "Z Block" QUT Gardens Point campus. It's quite likely that this screening will be the Australian Première of this movie!

Details here: http://localpower.net.au/revenge/

RSVP, but this still won't guarantee a seat.

Will there be EV parking/charging available for the screening?

I think parking at QUT is a challenge at the best of times, let alone charging.

Will make some inquiries though.

If there was parking but not charging, would that still be of interest?

regards,
Rob

The screening is tonight at 7pm. Be there early to see some EVs on display.

I happened to speak to the Localpower guys the other day, and it sounds like the response has been strong. Should be a great evening - see you there!

There were three EVs on display before the screening: an electric blue RHD Tesla Roadster, driven down from the sunshine coast and recharging with 32 A of three phase power, a Blade Electron, and a Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

Several hundred people turned up to see the vehicles and the movie.

I have to admit that I had low expectations for the movie, but was pleasantly surprised. I love the way they used silhouettes, smoke, music, long corridor shots and the like. The opening credits were quite interestingly done; I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. The four main characters (three vehicle manufacturer CEOs and a private converter) were all really interesting to watch, and very different from each other.

Hi.

As a result of the doco screening, people have asked Local Power whether we would consider doing a Buying Group for the latest crop of EVs.

So we are giving it a go and collecting interest. Please pass the word on to your regular friends would would considering buying an EV rather than building their own :-)

cheers,
Rob (for the Local Power team)

Hi Rob
So what is the advantage of joining a buying group to purchase an EV? Cheaper price maybe?

Yes if we get enough people we hope the manufacturers will be willing to make a deal and allow us all to get it cheaper.
