I just received the following email from Currumbin Ecovillage requesting
assistance with sourcing an EV.
First thoughts were to suggest a golf buggy. Does anybody else have any suggestions for them?

I ask from you if you could help us by recommending any type of sustainable vehicle that would be of use here. We have a few hills along the roads which might interfere with the reliability of certain vehicles."

An electric bicycle/trike/quadracycle is my first thoughts..
Anything else like a golf cart gets too expensive.
Also I dont think golf carts are allowed to drive on any road unless it is under 3-5km or something to the next hole, or from your residence? Maybe if they put a golf course in..

..But it looks like in Qld golf carts could qualify for conditional registration.
Speaking of golf carts Peach Tree city looks like a nice place to live. 90 miles of multiuse paths for golf carts, pedestrians and bikes.

I just got a follow up with some specs
Range - up to 5-6 klms
speed - doesnt matter as long as its faster than walking pace
passengers - up to 5
That's making it a lot harder.
I don't think the cost of a golf cart is going to make a lot of difference to these people.

I would say that any vehicle with a motor of greater than 200w would have to be registered, it is not dependant on the speed of the vehicle AFAIK. Look at the TORUMS (Transport Operations Road Use Management Act) for the answer.
