Yeah I found that the RPM ranges up to 10k, which means in practice I'd need a 2:1 gear box or similar.

The Motenergy motors would probably be more durable for the price.
Most of their stuff is really low power, more suited to a motorbike than a car. Best I could find was the
ME1616 (20kw cont, 55kw peak). Is there a higher power Motenergy motor?
I guess the
ME1304 has a slightly higher continuous rating for $100USD less...
Could one of those be used direct drive? The car I have (dying ICE engine) has an auto transmission, so I'd like to just rip that out completely for weight and complexity reduction.

28 Leaf modules (14S2P) is about 11kWh 106Vnom 115Vchgd.
