I reckon I've gotten the full life out of this brush and was hoping to replace it.
Or even something close I can file to size?
8.9mm wide (possibly meant to be 9mm)
20mm high
Originally ≈30mm long
I've sent out a few emails but thought I'd ask the hive mind as well.
Anyone have any recommendations on suppliers for a 144v kostov 9 inch motor brush? Wanted - kostov motor brushes

I think @4Springs recently bought some and bedded them in for the Brumby.

Re: Wanted - kostov motor brushes
It does seem recent, doesn't it? Coming up to four years ago!
I've had two Kostov incidents which mean that I have some brushes.
First was in 2014 when I burnt out my Kostov 9". Details are in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=4333&p=53693&hilit=kostov#p53693
I purchased an 11" Kostov to replace it. Then in 2017 I replaced the brushes as per this thread: viewtopic.php?p=63909#p63909
So I have the brushes from the 9", which I measure as 10 x 20 mm x 25 mm long. The car went about 20,000 km on these brushes. Send me a PM if you'd like these.
The brushes from the 11" are a different size. To get new ones of these I took them along to a local motor rewind place. They measured them carefully and obtained some through their network. I think they called someone in Queensland, who in turn had them made by someone in China. Had springs made as well and it cost a bundle!
How far have you gone on your set of brushes?
Re: Wanted - kostov motor brushes
They sound either the same or close enough that I can make them work. I'll PM you, thanks
I tried the local motor rewinders and they said they didn't do brushes and didn't know who might. I was going to wait until after Christmas and call a couple forklift repair mobs to see if they can help.4Springs wrote: ↑Thu, 24 Dec 2020, 11:51 To get new ones of these I took them along to a local motor rewind place. Unsure, I didn't convert the car. It was converted in 2010 and I bought it in 2018. The guy I bought it off didn't know the odometer reading when he bought it or when it was converted by the people prior to him. Personally I've clocked up a bit over 50,000km since I bought it.

Re: Wanted - kostov motor brushes
Here's a photo of two of the 9" Kostov brushes.
The other six are still on the motor. I'll remove them over the next few days and see what state they're in. The brushes and springs seemed ok on a cursory inspection.
I removed these a few years ago to see if they'd fit the 11". They are significantly smaller though. The other six are still on the motor. I'll remove them over the next few days and see what state they're in. The brushes and springs seemed ok on a cursory inspection.

They certainly look the part. Might be on to a winner
