Re: Salvage model 3
they wrote it off for hail damage? yikes
at a steep enough discount it wouldn't matter if you couldn't insure or fast charge

Current bid is at $33,500 and the auction still has 3 hrs to run, crazy. If Tesla has decided it is an unrepairable write off, then that is what it is, if Tesla has wiped their hands of it then it is only good for parts.

Re: Salvage model 3
It is a repairable write off, just not financially viable to repair back to its original condition which is what an insurance company would have to pay for, but if you are happy to live with a golf ball (you can claim better aerodynamics
) you could repair the glass and any really bad dents and get a cheap model 3 (without supercharging, not that that makes much of a difference in WA) . However at the current bidding I doubt it's actually going to be cheap/worth it

Re: Salvage model 3
I see it is gone now. Did anyone see what it sold for?
Re: Salvage model 3
Because they don't want a tesla burning to the ground in front of one of their charges because it wasn't repaired properly. They don't want the bad press and if you really want a car that supercharges then they'd be happy to sell you something.
I last saw the price at $36500 with about 30min to go

Re: Salvage model 3
Sure. It's their choice. But for this example it's hail damage and nothing more. Seems a massive waste of resources and adds to insurance premiums for the marque.brendon_m wrote: ↑Tue, 07 Apr 2020, 18:55 Because they don't want a tesla burning to the ground in front of one of their charges because it wasn't repaired properly. It will also be disabled from fast charging with a Chademo or CCS2 adaptor.
