a frenchy in adelaide dreaming of EV conversion

hello guys,

i am an electronic engineer by background but moved to the dark side (managment) a long time ago. I did promiss myself to buy a cheap fun electrical car once they get available and i am tired to wait.

I have rolling clio 172 rolling shell and i am starting to read as much as i can on EV conversion. I know what i want to do, which means that i can write my requirements... the specification and design will be another matter as i have very little free time in my life. So, hopefully, i can find some skillfull people and companies in Adelaide to help.
here is the spec:
-shall do daily drive of 50km on one charge in the city
-shall be able to drive a on daily usage up to 100km
-shall have sollar pannel on the roof to charge when park all day long under the sun
-shall have a spare mobile solar panel to place on the company parking to have more charging capability
-shall be able to add battery pack in series to go once every 2 months on track for 6 sessions of 15mn
-shall be able to achieve 220km/h in race format

So, first, am i crazy to think that it is achievable on budget?

the first motor that i was looking at is the mclaren eformula... but it is $$$ and the aftermarket version is half the power of the p1 version :(.

The 50 to 100km range is totally doable on a reasonable budget (at a guess $20K to $25k). The solar panels is neither here nor there. A big setup might add 20km of range.

Your race speed of 220km/h is the sticky point. It means a battery/controller/motor combination capable of a lot of power and that will eat up lots of $$$. At a really rough guess the motor/controller for that power would add $30k to the conversion price. Maybe wait for a 30kw/h Leaf to come to Australia.
With your limited time you'll also eat through money paying someone else to make it all go. A DIY EV of this type is yet another prototype.

+1 better off buying a leaf or a Tesla

If you were to go down the road of a DIY conversion, I'd suggest using OEM parts

2 x leaf drive trains might get you what you are after power wise
