I few months ago I purchased a little $4.95 Temperature gauge/ clock from Ikea. I just wanted something simple to sit in the shed, lounge room or where ever and have a quick visual of the temp. I was kind of impressed with the little thing and kept taking it around to use in different locations for ambient temps. Sure its no match for a good thermocouple that I have for for involved tests on a digital MM but it's not as ugly or expensive.

So last week I went to get some more of them to put in different locations. Ok I went a little overboard and ended up with 5 of them but hey for $25 it dint break the bank. Fresh batterys in all 5 I sat them on a shelf in the bedroom. I was happy that they all agree with a nice row of 5 identical numbers.
I closed the glass mirror sliding door and a few hrs later when you open the door the middle one is always 1 unit lower (the center one). Leave the door open for 5 min and they all agree again.

So I tried the experiment on the kitchen table they all agree. I then mixed them up again back in the wardrobe shelf and the middle one is again lower. I repeated it several times swapping them around .

I'm sure if I scratched my head enough I would work out whats influencing it when the door is slid closed.

Though I just thought it was funny when you go to a shop that has bulk temp gauges for sale Bunnings, Jaycar and they all read a slightly different number. It makes you think if they are in the same location on the same shelf - box they should all read the same. This test just shows that small local environment impacts from what ever can have a impact on temp.

Anyhow, the little clocks are handy for the price. They also have a settable count down timer, date, time, alarm. Illumination. You just rotate the cube to one of its 4 sides to activate the 4 functions. Good for the kitchen.I have one in my power room of the offgrid house. I gave one to my daughter so she used the count down timer and limits her shower time's (it actually worked) Though being told the temp by her every 2 min on a 1hr drive gets old fast.

Specs have them listed at reading temp from 0 - 50 Celsius. Showed 4 in the fridge.
