Found this video of a guy using submarine batterys to do some kind of arcing experiments. My impression was he was a bit of a nut job but the batterys are interesting.

25,000AH each and apparently the Submarine had 300 of them in series. So I guess we say it was a 600v - 25,000Ah traction pack Image 15,000kwh

Check out the copper bus bar connecting the the cells has got to be 200mm wide. The entire workshop looks like a huge accident in the making

I'm guessing what he is trying to simulate is the effect plasma boy created with his plasma ball floating over the top of his battery pack.
If he gets a connection occurring between those probes the load across those batteries would pump out quite a cloud of hydrogen and oxygen and create quite an explosion in that shed. As the video is from 1994 maybe he did blow himself up.
