Just back
Hi Guys. I just got back from racing the Australasian Safari on my quad and I must say I am pleased to see so much activity on the SA part of the forum. I am still keen to do a electric conversion on one of my race quads and have a buyer for one of my motors.
Here is a few links to results for that race.

Any how, keep it going and I will get to one of these meetings soon.
John.

I had to cut and paste the links into a new browser tab but some people seem to be able to make them active from this forum, I don't know how.
Overall Quad winner is a great effort, must be great fun to race one.
Is the overall winner the bikes, cars or the quads, if they all go the same way.
So what plans do you have for you E-quad, is a great idea, have been toying with the idea myself for my first EV.

You might be interested, at the last SAEVA meeting, David Leigh showed off some of the motors he has built himself, one based on the CSIRO solar car design, a pair of which would probably do very nicely on a quad with IRS. Maybe if you can attend the next meeting you could ask him a bit more about them. Next meeting info here

That would have been nice to see.
SA too far away

So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

Hey guys. I am now seriously considering the EV conversion to my KTM quad. I can get a good price for all the petrol stuff (motor, exhaust, fuel tank etc) so that will fund it no probs.
Need someone with good understanding of this type of thing to try and get a good plan hatched. Need to know power and weight figures and also water proofing issues (we don't stop if it rains!) There should be enough data and experience out there to get it close, if not perfect, the first time.
Perhaps if I load the rolling frame and bring it to the next meeting someone will be inspired enough to throw some ideas around.
