The Holden Volt is expected to sell for around $60,000.

Would you pay $60,000 for a PHEV with no range limitation?

No. But I'd probably pay 40 grand for my own BEV conversion of a used car.

And that's the 'starting price'...
Fuel economy (petrol) 3.8-4.8 l/100km
My estimate is that electric charging (and 60km drive) equates to a petrol equivalent of about 2.5l/100km at today's prices

It's going to take a lot of filling to make up the $35K price difference between the volt and a cruze
(about 800,000 km by my estimate)

++edit
Early adopters and corporations only...

Add some more $$ and go for a Tesla Model S?

It's a bargain! Image I was thinking it would be priced around $70-80,000AUD?
Yeah a Tesla model S would be my preference if I had a spare $100,000.

I'm having second thoughts about the LEAF because of my budget...   ...So the Volt at that price is still out of the question...
