2020 EV sales data

Post by jonescg »

2020 EV and PHEV sales data is in:

1769 pure EVs (excluding Tesla) sold this year.
1685 PHEVs

Approximately 2773 Teslas but this doesn't yet include December's data, so might be over 3000.

488 Hyundai Kona EV
344 Hyundai Ioniq BEV
370 Nissan Leaf
195 Mercedes EQC
94 BMW electric Minis
77 Renault Zoe
70 Jaguar iPace
64 Audi eTron
54 BMW i3 and i3s
14 Renalut Kangoo vans

I'll update the decade's spreadsheet tonight.

Not sure how we'd get that data, but DoT might have more reliable registration data nowadays.

A COVID blip is to be expected so not too bad. I expect a bit of a plateau for the next couple of years before all the newer models make it to our shores

The blip could also be due to all the Model 3s being shipped in Sept-Dec 2019.

I assume this doesn't include second hand imports (e.g. Leafs from Japan)? I wouldn't expect it to but that probably added another 50-75 in 2020.

Yep, only new car sales through dealerships. Imports are a whole different kettle of golfballs.
