Nice...but not exactly "the first race team to compete in a CAMS speed event using a solely electric powered vehicle" as your website claims.

Hi,
That line probably doesn't read as intended. We will change the wording on the website to be more clearer.
The current full line from the website is "In Novemebr 2014 EV Innovations made QLD motorsport history by becoming the first race team to compete in a CAMS speed event using a solely electric powered vehicle when we debut the Minetti SS-V1 "Electric" at the Noosa Hill Climb"
Our claim is that its the first electric car to compete in a "QLD" CAMS Speed event, which we believe it is.
If anyone has info to the contrary, Im happy to remove it.
cheers Scott

Looks fantastic, Scott. I'm envious. Are you prepared to disclose a rough cost to build? Ta.

Hi Kieran
No problem,
The Minetti kit including all options to complete to a basic rolling chassis is around $35k. You can get more info at - www.minetti.com.au
The powertrain was around $10k and consists of -
Netgain Impulse 9 - $2600
Zilla 1K - $2500
Cooling system for Zilla - $200
12 x Optima Batteries - $2900
Cabling / terminals / Contactors etc - $500
Battery Box - $200
Motor Mount materials - $200
So around $45k in total.

$10,000 for powertrain is probably not too bad. I'm guessing that most people who race a super sports type car would spend a few thousand on a bike motor that was second hand anyway. A quick search on Bike Sales shows Suzuki Hyabusas starting at $6,000 plus for an early 2000s model with 40,000 km.
