200mph what to use AC or DC??

I think its got to do with momemntum of the air fluid and the impact and reflection with the surface and laminar air flow.

Thats as much word dropping that I can think at the moment.

The shape of the rider will of course have a huge impact. Broader shoulders and hips and maybe shoe size.

But at over 200km/h the spread of air with a fat nose cone /wheel maybe a big problem. A pointy nose is a problem at over 100km/h when cornering.

I guess if the bike is for track/road too its a compromise. Just get as much torque to the road/salt as possible.

I don't know the fancy names but that about sums it up

While my bike has the more modern look, I have wondered a few times if it is as aerodynamic as some of the older looking bikes.

With having shaper angles I wonder if the air exiting the outer edge of the fairing has more to battle with.

If the angle the air comes off the fairing is greater than a smooth rounded curve, then it meets the air running along side the bike with bigger turbulance, whereas the more rounded front is guiding the air down the bike.

But then the flip side of that if the air on mine gets away from the bike better then it is less likely to create drag on the rider.

Maybe those round noses work better when the sides are pannel in to stop the air grabing the rider???

I was just walking out the door when I noticed this...

Can only assume that Kawasaki was trying to get the air away from the bike.

Also noticed they are trying to take the air over the top of the bike rather than to the side.

Bit wet outside to do a test ride, but it seems to direct air around me from fairly low speeds through to over 200kph. I have noticed at about 245kph (at the end of the drag strip) the back of my jeans flap a bit that isn't there at ~200, but I think that is more to do with the fairing that covers the engine, then the top bit, also the air from the radiator exits in front of the leg.

While I am semi tucked it (fat bugger can't get fully behind screen) I don't notice any major buffeting it is only when I sit up at the end of the strip that it starts to act like a parachute.

I was planning to use 4 x Double stack brushless Mars motors run at 144v from 2 x 600amp Kelly controllers, after reading through the rules of DLRA We can only use two motors max.
What a pain.
I have two 144v Kelly 600amp controllers on order for the TTXGP to use with the Enertrac Hub motors, so it would be good to utilise them for Catavolt's land speed run.
Anyone know of a brushless dc motor with around 75kw 144v?

the zilla is a DC motor, where as brushless DC is more a bastardised AC.

Ahhh I checked to see if the Mars were all DC first before I posted, I didn't realise they were brushless and required a different controller.

you guys are missing 1 vital thing in the way of aerodynamics

you may only to be able to do so much to the bike in that area

so why not make the rider fit the holes on the ferings?

like this and make the rider turn it in to a streemliner

granted you will look like a wanker walking around in the suite but it will make you go faster

[EDIT] are you allowed to have a push car to get you up to say 100Kmp/H ?

I would like to keep the bike looking as much like a normal road bike as possible with a normal Rider or it doesnt count for me.

Hey Spog folks!

Why are you using a separate motor to accelerate from standing? Those DC motors have max torque from 0rpm, so would be best to accelerate I would have thought?!?
