Is there an EV calculator web page anywhere that I can plug a bunch of info into to work out what sort of engine, batteries & controller specs I'd need?

First thing I'm trying to work out is: a direct drive (not using the gearbox) through a 4.1 diff, what rpm would the electric motor be doing at 80 kmh, (assuming average sized 60 profile 15 inch tyres).

If not, I'll work out the math and start coding a page to work it out.

Uve's Electric Vehicle Calculator is linked from the Sydney AEVA pages, but has only some DC motors and older batteries, but he has all the maths on a separate page to copy. I and a few others have each done spreadsheets to work out our own stuff - I'm happy to send mine to you (which I did for industrial AC and accelleration) if you PM me. There may already be other webpages which are more up to date than Uve's.

Or you could try this one, lots of drop down boxes you can punch in
the figures you know and it works out the rest.

I fail to see how you can do 90 mph in first gear when most electric motors are lower reving than their ICE counter part with all things being equal...

I think that calculator would be far more practical and usefull if it plotted an optimal gear shift points for each gear.

that's why we make our own calculators

AC motors will happily run to 4500RPM some 6000RPM.
I think that is equivelent enough.
I rarely get 1.8L ICE to 4500RPM.

But I agree 90mph seems extreme for first.
So the short answer is NO but the long answer is YES.

I am sure with some thought it would be doable, if you have the performance specs like NettGain provide it should be plotable.

I certainly agree.

However, some cars, like the X1, are apparently pretty extreme.

According to Ian Wright, the X1 has "No clutch, no shifting, precise and immediate control of torque in drive and braking, perfect traction control…first gear takes you to 112mph…"

I am not involved with the X1 in any way, instead I'm just recalling what some extreme EV's can do.
