Gearbox to motor hub - USD40

Post by Thomas »

This one is on a diesel motor, but it's the simplest and cheapest joint I've seen that has a bit of room for misalignment.

The last one I saw on a farmer's generator was making more noise than the diesel!

It's not the end of the world, but I can see it from here.

This one wasn't moving so it was impressively quiet - but it's also going on some agricultural machinery :)

These are very common in industrial drives and as long as the alignment is correct they last for some time. An O ring chain will reduce the noise and last longest while creating th least mess but a standard chain boiled in grease and left to cool will work fine with a spray guard fitted. the speed of coupling/uncoupling is handly if you need that sort of thing but there is no shock load tolerance, the coupling is only as strong as the chain being used.
