Motor adaptor idea

Post by EV2Go » Wed, 18 Aug 2010, 01:16

The craziest of ideas just came to me... with finally deciding on going direct drive I need an adaptor between the motor and the diff.

Where would I find something that looks like a hat, has an inner diameter of about 6-7 inches and an outer diameter of about 11", then it dawned on me a brake rotor.

I need to emulate something like this below. It needs to be strong enough to handle the torque of the Kostov motor, and would be adaptable to the diff. Only problem may be a deep enough dish.

Edit: Could possibly cut and shut a piece in the middle if a suitable off the shelf couldn't be found.

Have a look at these for mounts.

www.surpluscenter.com go to HYDROLICS > ACCESSORIES > PUMP/MOTOR MOUNTS
and last entry on page almost fits your description of adapter.

If only I was running a 9" motor, they would be so close, especially this one. I could probably fudge the motor end as the 11" Kostov has 8.4" (8 3/8 BC) + 3/8" bolts makes 8 3/4", with nothing to spare. Problem is the diff end, I need about a 5 1/2" bolt centres plus bolt clearance.

Be easy enough to fabricate something like that in steel & machine it so all the faces are true, etc, etc.

I can make almost anything in steel in almost any shape you want.
All I would need is a drawing of what you want.
PM me if you are interested.
