I’m putting together a Map of Australia showing conversions and other electric vehicles. If anyone is interested in getting their vehicle listed then drop me a message via PM or in this thread. The map can be found on my website or via the link below.
http://www.evaustralia.com.au/EVs/EVsin ... fault.aspx

If you have done or are planning an EV conversion or own an Electric Vehicle then post here or contact me via PM and let me know the following details

Your Name
Vehicles Name
Country
State
Postcode
Vehicle Details
Stage (Planning/Just started/Almost done/Complete/Inspected and roadworthy)

Also if you have a website or any other details you want listed against your vehicle.

Unfinished and conversions in the planning stage are welcome as are international conversions.

I will be plotting the details on a Map for everyone to see. Don’t worry I won’t be putting in your street address, it will only go down to suburb level.

Gday Mike,

do you have a blog or web page for your conversion?
an aw11 is my ideal conversion vehicle, so i was wondering if you could tell me a few things.
how heavy is the engine and related components you are able to take out?
how heavy is the chasis and body with no engine?

cheers,
Matt

Matt
Don’t have a blog at this stage, great idea.

The original kerb weight of my AW11 was 1090kg (measured at a local weighbridge). Estimated weight reduction is a about 215kg after the ICE etc is removed (based on communication with other MR2 converters). Stupidly I forgot to weight the ICE in my haste to sell it (wife wanted garage back) so I plan is to install the MES-DEA motor get the car mobile with a temporary traction battery pack and weight it again.

Depending on batteries (undecided but Thundersky would be nice) the car should weight about 1600 kg.

Based on the tire load index of a standard AW11 (82H or 475kg per tire at 240kPa) the cars total load capacity is 1900kg. This is simply not possible as it’s a sports car and not a ute but it does give me confidence conversion is possible, something I have confirmed with a local (knowledgeable) automotive engineer.

May I also encourage everyone to put their cars up on http://evalbum.com?

I see WA is only two vehicles behind NSW in the EV tally - go WA Image (there must be a few more west aussie EVs yet to be listed? c'mon..)

That gives me an idea. Time to make it a race Image I'll see if I can put up a pretty graph by state.

Come on WA get your names in Image

I won't put mine in, since it doesn't exist yet Image

But I didn't realise there were so many around town. Ian's MX5 is just around the corner from my work! Might have to pop by one day, if Ian doesn't mind. Image

Sure, you might want to wait a few weeks though - then you can actually take it for a spin around the block!

Put it in anyway, I'm going to change the script a little to show between planning, in progress and completed

Late model Subaru Brumby, will have 5-stud conversion with four wheel disc brakes. LiFePO4 batteries with 2x 3-phase second hand industrial induction motors - one at the rear diff, one at a diff mounted in the front. And a nice "electric blue" paint job. :p

Planning stages so far. Waiting to have a garage to work in before I can start!
