Hi people,
I have been continually adding cells to my EV to the point where my original 96v pack is now 140v (40 cells). Almost all components have been replaced to handle this increased voltage except for the 96v motor and the DC - DC converter. The converter is run in parallel with a solar panel through a regulator to the aux battery. I am now wondering if the 96v converter could be "struggling" with the 140v pack?
Do I buy 120v and have a "weak" converter or buy a 144v converter and not have enough volts going into it?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Re: DC - DC Converters?
A 144 volt converter would handle your situation nicely I would think.
Re: DC - DC Converters?
Thanks Johny,
My pack is 140v at it's max but normally sits around 133v. So what your saying is that a 144v converter would have no trouble working off a 133v pack?
Thanks
Paul

Yeah it will be fine. 144 is normally the nominal rating. It will work from 85 V to 165 V or something.
