If that does not work you may want to look at getting a Teslanything.
Also try pushing the button on your j1772 plug for about 5 seconds when you plug it in to your leaf.

I swapped out the 220 for a 1500ohm. Plugged in the J1772,no go.
I tried releasing it after 3 secs too, ditto, will try 5secs next time.

Does the hpwc need to be set onto legacy mode?

The installing electricians of the Tesla chargers would not have a clue about any dip switch setting for legacy mode I suspect that they all not set for legacy mode. But it seems that BMW i3 is compatible with non-legacy mode.

Hi Jin,

There is someone on www.plugshare.com who is using a type 2 to type 1 adapter cable on a Tesla charger to charge a 2013 Nissan Leaf at Supercheap Auto at Penrith and it works. You can send him a message using the mobile phone plugshare app. Name is Markr. https://www.plugshare.com/location/121174. Strange that yours does not work.

Hi Jin,

You can do a wiring check by measuring resistance using a ohmmeter.

Looking at your J1772 plug measure the resistance:
1. Between the Proximity Detection pin (LHS) and Equipment Ground pin (without pushing button in) - 150 ohms
2. Between the Proximity Detection pin (LHS) and Equipment Ground pin (with button pushed in) - 480 ohms.
CP is also Control Pilot.

Looking at your Mennekes male plug measure resistance between PP pin and PE pin - 220 ohms.

Continuity checks (0 ohms):
1. Check continuity between L1 pin (mennekes male end) and L1 pin (j1772 end).
2. Check continuity between N pin (mennekes male end) and L2/N pin (j1772 end).
3. Check continuity between PE pin (mennekes male end) and Equipment Ground pin (j1772 end).
4. Check continuity between CP pin (mennekes male end) and Control Pilot pin (j1772 end).
The L2 and L3 pins on your Mennekes plug should not be connected to any wires.

I have checked type2 end to be terminated properly. Not the other end. P1 was connected.

I presume if the standard type 2 station charges then the line continuity should be fine across the adapter. Because of this, I'm more inclined this is a legacy setting on the hpwc.

I have no idea where you are located. But you can check your cable with an untethered non-Tesla charger (Chargefox - EVlink) at Mc Donalds at Kellyville to check the non-legacy setting theory...https://www.plugshare.com/location/110533 This charger requires you to use your own cable and it has a Mennekes outlet for you to plug your cable into. If your cable works there then your cable is good. But they do keep a cable inside the store. It would be worth checking. You may need to download the Chargefox app onto your phone to use it.

I have already tested the adapter is working fine against a few type 2 scheider stations.

Tested leaving the adapter in longer - 5mins
Tested with varying times of delayed j1772 button release on plugin to no avail.

Dont want to be flipping dips to test on property that isnt mine, ill draw the line there and call it a loss of $$$.
Originally I considered teslanything, but at around $300 its not really worth it for a 15a handoff.
