Often there is a paste mentioned regarding assembling battery straps to link cells together. What is the paste and where do you get it?

It seems to be discontinued: NOALOX.

The compound that we bought doesn't look like this; ours looks more like a tomato sauce dispenser.

I hope they find an alternative to stock, like the utilux product, otherwise there will be plenty of less than ideal battery packs out there !!
Aluminium / Aluminium and Aluminium / copper /nickel connections will let people down in time.

A 10gm tube goes a long way !

There is some other stuff called Alminox Electrical Joint Compound & is made by Dulmison.
It is what the energy authorities use on their high volatge connections. It is recommended for all aluminium to aluminium or aluminium to cpper connections.
I don't know where to get it though. I got some through a guy that worked for Country Energy.

Thanks everyone for your help, I will take the list with me to TLE in the morning and see what I come up with. The tip about the local energy authority using a suitable compound could be an interesting one to follow up Image

CABAC makes one, part number EJCG125. I got Haymans to order some for me, as they didn't have Uni-seal (perhaps just the Virginia branch...)

I tried TLE, no luck, tried J Car and they came up with a Chemtools product called Carbon grease R006, http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... rm=KEYWORD, but after reading the description on the website it appears more for switch lubrication. I guess it's back to hassling more electrical wholesalers or ordering it in via the net.
Thanks again for everyones assistance.

Yeah that Jaycar product from ChemTools makes it very difficult to tighten up the connection, because of the lubricating property.

I had to get the supplier to specifically order some of the Cabac product, as they didn't have anything in stock.
