My Mira conversion

Post by Greg partridge » Sun, 17 Feb 2013, 20:36

I started my Mira conversion with the ICE removal yesterday. Battery, radiator, petrol tank, fuel lines ect. Unfortunately the only level ground was under our pergola. My wife told me I have a week to get this conversion done so she can have her BBQ setting back there. At what stage should I tell her the truth about how long it will take??

Sounds to me you'd better get it done in a week ;-)

Best of luck!

Find her tasks to do on the conversion.
Take her out for meals.
Have BBQ gatherings around the project EV (don't invite petrol heads).
or point out how wasteful it is too burn BBQ gas and put the BBQ out for the verge collection.
Don't leave the ICE parts at the back door.
Comment on how time flys when you're having fun.
Remember, forgiveness is easier to seek than permission.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
and so on ....
2 Weeks, OK !    Image

Can the Mira be moved around when the BBQ area is needed?

Just tell her that after little more than four years, Weber and Coulomb's MX-5 is nearing completion!   Image

And that the MX-5 project has taken over the following areas of the Weber house:
Rumpus/sewing room
A spare bedroom/alternative sewing room
An occupied bedroom
The downstairs bathroom
The downstairs kitchen
The laundry
The back verandah
Under the back verandah
On occasions, the dining room
The council park next door

My petrol engine has been hanging for 2-weeks.
I like it as a reminder that all petrol burning things should be hung for thier crimes against nature. Image

Don't worry they don't feel useful unless they nag.
So 1 week really means 1 year with 52 reminders!

Jeff Owen exaggerates terribly. The bedroom wasn't occupied at the time we put the unused industrial VF drive in there. Although we did have to demonstrate what a natty bedside table it made when the owner came back about half an hour later.

What you gotta do is first convert your car into a "carbeque". Perhaps show your wife the following video about how it's done. In this example Uncle Red cooks a whole Christmas dinner on it.

One of the fathers of MeXy the electric MX-5, along with Coulomb and Newton (Jeff Owen).

Well, the old leaky engine and gearbox came out today, with some assistance from my friendly mobile mechanic. You know what they say, happy wife happy life!
Still a bit of tidying up to do but getting there.

If you get the car to a stage where it can be rolled around, than you would only need it on the level when you are actually working on it

Just a thought

out of curiosity, what are you using for batteries and charger?
