Hi Mandy, Christmas isn't a festival as much as it is a time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Kind of only means something to you if you believe in God though, but then again if it makes you feel good to exchange gifts, then really there is no harm done.
It is probably more in the spirit of Christams than a lot of greedy stores that gouge prices, use emotional blackmail, and generally use the occassion to make forced purchases through guilt.
So you go right ahead and enjoy the festive session that is Christmas.
BTW we get two days holiday for Christmas, one for Christmas itself and one for Boxing day. Boxing day from what I understand originated as a day to put everything away.
I read in the news the other day that they even put up a Christmas tree in a hotel in Abu Dhabi who are prodominatly Muslims.

Wow the power of media to reach out and grab a bunch of souls in the next gen.
Its jfunny you mentined, EV2GO, that it was a bi fast for old folks. I guess the fast speed is what maked it all the more removed that the new gen moves at such a fast pace.
I just help a Jewish man (Very wide, big beard, family in Torago) at the Koowerup petrol station. He had a print out from Google maps on how to get to a place ( .. privacy). And the google desciption did look like gooble-de-gook.
Ah well hope your feastivities promote world peace.
