Re: Tc chargers dont like me. I have killed it.

There's an LED on both sides of the charger (the second can only be viewed with the cover off. Are both not flashing? no possibility of battery voltage finding it's way to the enable line? (I use a 5k resistor on each line to protect against that happening, for a 144v nominal system) There's a numbe...

What size fuse are you using?

Semiconductor fuses do weaken over time if they're undersized (current goes above the continuous rating on the regular but doesn't exceed the I2t rating)

Re: tesla modules

Is that 1600 aud or USD? How are they shipping it? $1000 in port fees + gst if it arrives at the wharf. Common carriers (DHL, FedEx, ups, Aust post/postal union, etc) don't normally take batteries that size Not too bad if you're buying whole batteries, terrible if buying individual modules There's a...

yep, dash shows amps into the battery (140V @ 10A = 250v @ 6A inc some losses) The display defaults to 30Ah of capacity as that's what the original nimh batteries were. Fortunately that's a good number to use for new CALB 40 Ah cells (remembering you're discharging them much faster than their standa...

Re: Dash clock losing the correct time

Assuming the original charger is working, load the dugas firmware: http://dugasengineering-com.3dcartstores.com/VX1-HEX-Files_ep_56-1.html you will need a peak systems can bus cable (it's the only one that has the right drivers and onboard hardware) The range estimation is based on Ah count from ful...

Have you looked at the evoke bikes? Hub motors, but full size wheel and seem to have sufficient performance for you (130kph). https://www.evokemotorcycles.com.au/urban-series Fairly pricy I think, can only see one second hand one on bikesales and that says "huge savings on new" at $12,500. Still ab...

Re: To import or to build? New to EV's

oh parts are easy to import

you pays your money, they hand over the goods to DHL or fedex or sometimes china post and it arrives at your door in 3 days or 4 days or 8 weeks.

that doesn't work for batteries though

where are you located out of curiosity?

Re: To import or to build? New to EV's

Importing a new motorbike costs around $10k - $15k in harmonisation paperwork. It's only worth it if you plan on starting a business selling them There have been a few electric motorbikes sold in Australia - Vectrix, Zero, I think Brammo sold a couple There was at least one sport bike based on a hyo...

nope, no watch batteries anywhere

I forget whether the clock is implemented in the dash itself (ICMR), or in the ICM.

swapping them out would be the way to go, though to swap the dash itself is a fair bit of work

ah yes, so the same BMS as I have In your case I would still use the master module to disconnect the charger, so that it does cycle on and off. Be aware though, that BMS is built for a top balanced battery. You will quickly end up somewhere in between top and bottom balanced fairly quickly, even if ...

Then you need the inverter that can handle the electric vehicle battery voltage. That raises an interesting thought. The inverter I'm looking at to use on a proposed off grid system has a solar feed in voltage max of 450vdc and between 120vdc and 430vdc the MPPT controller part can handle. If the e...

Would we even have to tell them? In WA, Western power want to know the serial number of the inverter so if you change it technically you're meant tell them(and they may refuse the unit). But it's not like they are going to come round and check the number as long as you don't start exporting at midn...
