CPU Water Coolers - Useful?

Nup!

I need two reasons to travel that far to see a transmission cooler! Don't need any reasons to have a drink!

CPU Water Coolers - Useful?

Thanks Adverse Effects,

A mate of mine lives very close to the retailer of the transmission cooling systems. I think I better ring him and see if we are due for a bit of a drink over at his place! Its a long trip without two reasons to go.

Thanks

CPU Water Coolers - Useful?

Thanks tons for the info guys! Thanks TooQik and T1Terry - The Peltier thing is something I will investigate as is the piping of air into the engine bay. From the replies I have received it appears the water cooling I was thinking about will be less successful than I hoped. As a result, the ducting ...

CPU Water Coolers - Useful?

Thanks guys! There is not much air movement in my "engine bay" as I have closed off all the frontal area to improve aerodynamics. My 96v set up lacks a little power, particularly at higher speeds up hills. Had I known back in 2008, what I know now, I would have opened the wallet a little wider and b...

CPU Water Coolers - Useful?

Hi people, I am trying to keep my 300amp controller from overheating on long trips on hot days. It probably doesn't help that I am putting around 110v through the 96v controller. As per very good advice in a separate thread, I have fitted some fans to the heat sinks I had already installed on the co...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Oh yeah ..I understand the "space available" problem!!!! When I ordered and received my 2kw charger I should have thought about its physical size! I took out the old charger and placed the new charger in the same spot and realised the new charger was about 75mm longer than the old one. All the mount...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Hi 4Springs My extremely limited knowledge of how my BMS works includes that it has three pos-neg connections so it can handle three separate chargers. My new charger has wires coming from it's "other end" to connect it to the BMS. If I read your post correctly you are having problems with connectin...

Something is overheating?

Thanks a lot Eric. Even though the controller is nominally 96v, the Aust distributor advised it would handle up to 120v but of course would not be under warranty. I have been running it at up to 113v. The "high" voltage plus the very hot day plus the long trip may have been enough to overheat it. I ...

Something is overheating?

Thanks evric

The controller is part of the 96v "Goombi" kit which I purchased back in 2009. The paperwork just says 96v 300amp controller.

Sorry I can't give you any more info.
Cheers

Something is overheating?

Hi people, I struck a problem the other day which I have not struck before. I was doing a 45km trip to friends on the north shore of Sydney on a very hot day. The temp when I was driving was about 38 degrees. I got about half way there in stop-start traffic and moved off the mark and the car just mo...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Hi 4Springs Got the SOC down to 51.2% yesterday and did a simultaneous charge this morning. Looks like your theory is correct. Unfortunately the SOC only got up to 55% and the charging rate went down to 24amps. Then SOC got up to around 60% and the charge rate went down to 21.4amps. Looks like the n...

Problems with Electric Trike

Hi people, I had trouble finding a throttle described as a "pot" throttle but eventually found a "thumb pot throttle" normally used on electric bicycle conversions. As usual the colour of the wires coming from the thumb throttle did not match the colours of the wires into the controller of my tricyc...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

4Springs - I am able to measure current with both the TBS Pro I had from my "lead acid" days and the BMS we installed with the lithiums. They both agreed on the current being charged so I assume my figures are accurate. The battery was down to about 75% to 80% SOC when charging commenced. I wondered...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Finally got around to doing some testing yesterday. Apart from life getting in the way, the car blew the gearbox and we had to hunt around to find a replacement. I fitted the new 121v 18amp charger in place of the old 96v 10amp charger and it charges the car at a rate of 17.4 amps but unlike the old...

Hi people, I have just posted Stockland Malls tentative plans for installing new EV chargepoints in another thread. Improving EV Charge Spots

Hi people, I have received further advice (7th Oct)from Stockland Malls regarding where they intend to put additional charge points. Cutting and pasting from their email: a) "We have installed two new charge spots to date in Baldivis, WA and Burleigh Heads QLD." b)"We have planned to install additio...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Thanks Coulomb and 4Springs. I have purchased a 40 amp, 12v automotive relay complete with diode. I am keeping in mind that 4Springs said not to connect the 12v (red) wire nor the enable (black) wire to the vehicle's 12v battery. My proposed wiring for the relay would be as follows: a) Wire from pos...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Luckily for me both 4Springs and Coulomb know much more about what I am talking about than I do! The picture coulomb shows with the green wire is not the same as mine. I only have the red and black coming out of the whatsa-name. The green wire that confused me was the one coming out the opposite end...

Subject to anything Coulomb may advise I will go with your "A" option.

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Thanks Coulomb. Lucky I asked! 4Springs - the manual is unclear and I haven't talked to my (electrician) brother yet. And the lack of clarity is expressed in broken English. You know, sentences like, "Not attempt to connect any two wires that not be connected." Hmm? 4Springs - wasn't there a post or...

Two Chargers Simultaneous Charging

Update. My 2kw TC Charger arrived today! They promised 14 days delivery but I thought that was an optomistic estimate. It was precisely 11 calendar days! I won't have time to test it until the weekend but it appears fairly simple except for the "charge enable" cable from the charger. The cable from ...
