Re: Split phase inverter firmware modification

the mods I want to make should give them better functionality. Do you mind staring what your intended mods are? Can a mod be made that can give me a value whether or not the batteries are floating? That is something that appears to be missing from protocol 18. Missing from the documented commands, ...

Re: PIP5048MG - Earth and Battery

When the 5048MG is totally switched off or disconnects load as a result of going below the battery Cut-Off (program #29) does the inverter connect Neutral and Earth? If the inverter connects neutral and earth at all, then I'd expect it to connect the way the 5048MS models do: http://forums.aeva.asn...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I have a 2015 PIP4048, It is switching on and off from startup, It might be the circuit involved in keeping the supply going after C7 has recharged. That really only involves D57 (and its snubber RC), and D49. Does the +15 V supply come up? If so, that only leaves D49, if this is the mechanism for ...

I moved a post about firmware patches for a Split Phase inverter here.

Edit: it turns out it really is an Infini model (I thought that was an error on the poster's part, sigh). So it could really have stayed after all.

Coulomb, I would like to find out if you could give me a little info how you mod firmware files. Sure. It's no secret, but I'll keep most of it off the public forum. Note that it is a lot of work (set aside days), you need a good reverse engineering tool (Ida Pro professional is ideal, but it's not...

Or some scallywag filled the inside of the case with butane and dropped a match? I wondered about sabotage as well, but from the report: "A vehicle was disconnecting from the ChargeNet station when it "blew apart", a Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesman said." Unless someone set up somet...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

What is the difference between old and new ssc board? Basically, the new board is much longer, the new SCC heatsink is better positioned in front of the fans, and the PV terminal block connects to the SCC PCB via a pair of metal bars attached to the PCB. Old board (sorry for the poor photo, all I c...

Re: Tritium fast chargers

What’s the verdict on the Nz Veefil explosion? Not a good look, to be sure. My wild guess is that a capacitor emitted some sort of flammable fluid, which ignited somehow and caused the case to explode off. It doesn't look like a massive electrical meltdown. This was back in November; I saw a report...

On the plus side I have a nice picture of what happens to a standard blade fuse with a 140vdc short across it.
Um, what was a blade fuse doing in a 140 VDC circuit? [ Edit: they're normally rated at 30 VDC. ]

If it's in the coulometer, I don't want to be associated with it ;)

Re: Low cost BMS

It's interesting that the manufacturers (thinking of Nissan) have used wire looms and single boards. Mitsubishi in the iMiEV and I suspect also in the Outlander use an intermediate approach; a more or less cell-top PCB that connects to 4 cells. One chip services 8 cells (except in 2 cases where it ...

What a new scc worth or is it cheaper to get stand alone charger then to fix the scc in the inverter My guess is that a replacement SCC would be well under $200, but availability of the old style SCC for PIP-4048s is unknown. It could also take some time to get one from MPPSolar, if they can and wi...

Hi coloumb this inverter( inverex vm 3.2) look like Vp 3kva( i think PIP HSE 3024) , I think it's closest to an Axpert VM3000-24 (PIP-3024MSE), but with higher rated (over rated?) inverter power and MPPT output current. All the Inverex models have custom metalwork; this one also has the more modern...

I have heritage 3 x 4.6kW PV arrays - one for each 5048MG inverter. Voltages are above the minimum of 120V required by the 5048MG. That's slightly over the maxum PV array size specification of 4500 W. I don't think that this is related to your problem. The CPU version is 00072.90 U1 is 71.70 ? Is t...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications

I see two terms inverter soft start fail and bus soft start fail. As Paul has said, the bus is the ~400 V "power supply" that the inverter uses to chop into 50 Hz 230 VAC. There are two large capacitors maintaining this voltage at a relatively steady value; these have to be slowly charged at power-...
