Why not just replace the existing battery with more flooded lead acid ones. For example, 10 x 6V golf cart batteries.

A couple of months back I looked at bringing in an 18 month old Renault Kangoo ZE from the Old Dart & was told by a few sources including a so-called 'expert' car importing broker, some federal government muppets & Renault Australia that it was totally impossible unless I was prepared to pay some u...

it used to be a Lotus Elise http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Roadster The first two "test mules" were based on a Lotus Elise. By this definition, virtually every car built is a conversion as most car makers begin by testing components in existing cars. The Tesla shares only 6-7% of components wit...

We managed to crawl off the Centenary Motorway into Sumner Road and stopped right near a 24 hour petrol station. After looking around for a convenient power point we phoned the RACQ. Did you ask for a charge at the 24 hour petrol station? I remembered the immortal words of Jeff Owen: "There are mor...

It's even more dismal when you compare the total number of EV to ICE. Thirteen million passenger cars vs six hundred electric. That's only 0.005% of cars in Australia are electric. You are comparing the number of EVs built by just 4 manufacturers over just 4 years against the remaining registered c...

Wet wood is a surprisingly good conductor of electricity. I've read about people who've had wood start steaming from current flowing through it when wet (don't remember where I read it, but it was definitely in an EV). Why would you want to have a current flowing through wet wood? Obviously, for th...

From the RACQ:acmotor wrote: After all, they haven't put road tax on LPG yet
From 1 July 2012, the excise on LPG will go up to 5cpl and then increase by 2.5cpl annually to a maximum 12.5cpl on 1 July 2015.

What an EVSE provides
Surely, if an extension lead is to be used with a portable EVSE, it must be a J1772 extension lead between the EVSE and the car.

You would get on well with Weber. A few weeks ago, I arrived at his house to find him grinding the imperial sizes off of a spanner and engraving it with the metric equivalent.jonescg wrote: AAARRRGH!! It's km/h! NOT kmph! SI units people! *head explodes*

I recall early ABS that folk claimed to be able to out brake. It is simply false with modern systems, even to the point where F1 runs it. From F1 regulations: 11.5 Brake pressure modulation: 11.5.1 No braking system may be designed to prevent wheels from locking when the driver applies pressure to ...

The lack of BMS is probably the cause of the problem. The pack is out of balance. Charging the pack as is will likely damage more batteries. I think you need to charge the low battery but you will need a charger that goes to 14.7V (From memory 17 years ago). I have one for Hawker batteries which are...

Is there some form of battery management on the car?
What makes you think one of the batteries is dead?
Have you tried charging the offending battery on it's own?
Where are you in Brisbane?
