Re: Francisco's Electric Pajero

Still working on the battery box. I have finally finish adding all the braces. Here are some pictures. 20190424_114459.jpg 20190424_114539.jpg The braces bolt onto the chassis of the car. I am trying to avoid welding anything to the original body. I am hoping this will be a bolt on retrofit with nex...

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

Is there a reason why the BMS only balance as the cells after they get to full charge?
Is it possible to balance as the cells are charging?
If one cell is getting a higher voltage than the rest could it not be bypassed so all cells vet to full charge at the same time?

I am trying to get a group buy for some LG 63Ah cells. Would you consider getting some?
Here is the link to threads about the cells.

Re: Newbie question about practicalities of charging and range

I think the adoption of EVs will not be immediate it will be gradual. I think the political parties target of 50% EVs by 2030 is not difficult to achieve. They will be slowly increasing and as there is more demand on the grid the grid will be upgraded gradually, or perhaps people will start putting ...

Re: Francisco's Electric Pajero

The spacers on the half shafts are not the same as spacers on wheels. The spacers on wheels are a problem because the load is not centered on the bearings any more. For the spacers on the half shafts it is different because there is no side loads on the half shafts. Just the weight of the CV joints....

Re: Newbie question about practicalities of charging and range

Firstly for slow charging of cars at home the grid is already capable. An electric stove is on a 25A circuit. If you turn two hot plates at the same time that will be 5kw. Add to that another 3kw for the hot water and another 3 or 4kw for all the other things in the house. The grid has to supply thi...

Re: Battery Modules Questions.

We can change a few things to make the cells fit. One is to change the manifolds so that they indent into the cell this would make the end tabs flush with the manifolds. Also we could make the cooling plates hold two cells instead of one. This would save over 12mm of width. I have a quick model of h...

Re: Battery Modules Questions.

Correct me if I am wrong but you have 218 cells at 3.2v. This equates to 700v. The ncms are 3.6v so you would need 194 cells. The current battery capacity is 40Ah at 700v so total of 28kwh. I can get 85cells in the 678x500x215 and 102 in the 1092x253x215 (Will need to make it slightly bigger but onl...

Can you tell me the size you have available?
If it is so close I may be able to modify something to make the batteries fit.

What is your maximum. Desirable speed and what time do you want it to do 0 to 100kph.
This will determine how much power you need.

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

2 10A diodes in parallel do not give you 20A capacity. Diodes have a negative temperature coefficient. This means that as the diode gets hotter the forward voltage drop gets less. This means that of the two diodes takes slightly more current than the other which causes it to heat up more. This cause...

Re: Hot rod EV - looking for advice.

I am converting a Pajero which I think is about the same size and weight as your truck. The Pajero has independent front and rear suspension which makes it easier to connect the motors to the diffs because there is no need for a long tailshaft as the diffs don't move. This leaves more room for batte...

My father used to buy damaged golfs fix them and sell them. This is what I know about the write offs. In Qld the determination if it was a write off is done by some inspectors at the Auction site. They look at the car and make a judgement if the car has been damaged enough to be a write off and if i...

That is for the left hand drive version
Ask for the right hand drive version.
I bet they didn't put on the drawing if it was the engine view or the gearbox view.
