Re: getting small business to share their powerpoints
According to a few enquiries I've made, 25kw DCFCs aren't cheaper than 50kw DCFCs, in fact they appear to be more expensive. As for impact on the electricity network, there is reason for concern if 50kw load is too much. Didn't we recently get slugged with billions for gold-plating everything ?

Re: getting small business to share their powerpoints
I have arrangements with the odd pub, basically I buy a meal and a beer or two in exchange for access to a socket, however when I've asked if they would like more of the same kind of business they are generally cool on the idea. One publican said he didn't want to encourage Tesla types who would pro...

I'm too far to be of assistance, but they have heaps of room, seriously doubt you'd have a problem. One issue to be aware of, there are a few in Australia that were specially modified for the Japanese Post Office and are readily identifiable by the red colour. They are two-seaters and have a load ba...

Takata airbag recall
Is anyone aware of the situation regarding Takata airbag recalls in respect of grey imports ? MMAL has stated on their website that they are responsible for grey imports but the company clearly doesn't have a clue about VIN numbers I want to get this sorted as I will be selling the Minicab to make w...

There is also a related issues of vehicles being parked in EV charge spots: There needs to be hefty fines for this misdemeanor! Also anyone using a public charger should have to register a mobile phone number (possibly by texting a number on the charger) so the vehicle owner can be contacted. HEAR ...

New Tritium chademo at Helensvale
Has anyone figured how to turn on / activate the new Tritium chademo at Helensvale ? Unlike every other Tritium chademo I've ever used, this one wants something provided, but who knows what. Seems that some muppet decided to configure it to demand use of an app or an SMS (so says the flashing indica...

Re: OFF THE SHELF RANGE EXTENDING BATTERY SETS
There have been a few attempts made at e-jerrycans but as far as I'm aware they have all proven to be unsatisfactory for one reason or another. Currently I'm using a portable generator as a fallback solution in the sticks although I've only needed to use it a few times. A generator might not be as e...

Re: Non OEM Leaf battery upgrade?
Is it situation that Nissan onboard computers are more straightforward than VIN-locked Mitsubishi versions ? A while back, enginer was claiming it could add a second battery pack to a 24kwh Leaf although to the best of my knowledge that didn't work like the publicity blurb suggested. talking about n...

I've been following battery upgrade threads for some time but I've yet to see any sign of success with hacking the onboard computer to force it to recognize a different battery. If you've heard anything different I'm all ears.

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project
To the best of my knowledge, nobody has yet hacked the onboard computer to convince it to recognize a non-standard battery. Mitsubishi appears to have a good handle on VIN locking and there hasn't been any real progress on overcoming the obstacle. I would contribute toward the costs of a hacker if o...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project
I'd love to fit a bigger capacity battery to my Minicab however given that the vehicle has only covered a few thousand kilometers from new, I'm not inclined to mess with it until the upgrade has been proven successful. There doesn't appear to be any history of replacement non-genuine batteries unles...

Re: PETROL STATION CHARGING?
What business case can be put to service station operators for installation of charging points ? Most of us are accustomed to free charging in shopping centres etc and (unreasonably IMO) probably expect free charging at service stations as well ergo no incentive to install charging points. Even with...

Re: Pipistrel electric aeroplane - in Perth!
I wonder what these things cost to purchase and maintain ?
Presumably both are well under that of comparable ICE aircraft as the electric motor should have an indefinite life and as with an EV, maintenance will be minimal.
The proposed 2 hour version will indeed be an interesting prospect.

I wonder if JDM Leafs have the early battery that gave trouble in some parts of the US or the replacement 'lizard' battery ? According to several sources, JDM Leafs retain the 3kw charger, unlike UK ones which have a 6kw charger. Personally I wouldn't buy a 2017 eNV200 because we are likely to see 2...

Re: Aust. Auto Aftermarket article on Batteries and EV's
An issue I'd love to see resolved is the ability to hack the onboard computer / firmware to allow fitment of bigger battery packs. There are far greater capacity batteries available than those installed by Mitsubishi and Nissan, but as far as I'm aware, nobody has managed to make use of the later ba...

To the best of my knowledge, the only Nissan EV on the SEV list is the NV200 van. SEV rules apply to low volume special interest vehicles and prohibit vehicles already sold locally in volume by the manufacturer. I imported a Minicab through JSpec without major problems and wouldn't hesitate to do it...

Is there reason to believe BMW i3 can be upgraded ? Has anyone tried using the Electric Highway Tritium chademo /CCS charger at Coolangatta airport ? The cables are extremely short and it is impossible to connect a Minicab without parking side-on. I have issues with charging imiev at the Chargepoint Australia (CA) garden city shopping centre in Perth. Imiev charges fine at other CA sites. The imiev charge LED flashes then goes out. Very interesting. I assume your Minicab is a U67 which looks like it came from JustBuses as its the only one I've seen with mag wheels. That said, there 'should' not be any difference with my later U68. Not my Minicab. Yes it is a U67 but I have been told it did not come from JustBuses but may have...
