Re: Conversol A9 3KW 24v

The method I used was the generator start relay when it goes to grid (generator) it operates the relay this takes an earth off the neutral so I used the normally closed contact to keep the earth relay operated but there can be a slight problem if the relay is slow it may trip the protection relay be...

I am using mega1248p and mega644p but not Arduino code using Bascom What I have is 150 byte buffer running in interrupt mode and waiting for a character 13 to trigger decoding I found that I had to wait after sending the command for a full response or I only got part of the return and have to calcul...

Have not weighed them , the regeneration needs to be done at least 3 times and needs 60 amps min to be going through them for half an hour let them rest for 1 hour in between I have a couple of microwave oven transformers that I should be able to get a 3 volt winding onto and I have a variable trans...

Have found out some information regarding the regeneration of NiFe cells not only do you rinse them out and replace the electrolyte you also give them a flogging a high current charge that has them boiling (gassing) but not heating up now looking at manufactures recommended charge currents these are...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Yes. Coulomb and I posted about that back in November . 48.1 V for the 64 V model. 42.1 V for the 58.4 V model. OK that means I can experiment with 36 NiFe cells and set the back to grid at 44v and bulk at 58v just waiting on the new caps to arrive to replace the 63v ones. Also going to replace the...

weber wrote: Mon, 04 May 2020, 09:08 The only thing I have to add to Coulomb's excellent post, is that you can't parallel a 64/66 V model with a 58.4/60 V model. The 58.4 V model is preferred, because it can maintain a proper sine wave down to lower battery voltages.
Have you measured the lowest it goes before distortion ?

I found the manual by searching GCB-20K and it is just a 3 phase rectifier with output to dump load dip switch setting on GCB-20K User can regulate diversion voltage by switching unit U1. Switch U1 Mode Voltage (Vdc) 1, 2 OFF VON=400, VOFF=300 1 ON, 2 OFF VON=500, VOFF=400 1 OFF, 2 ON VON=500, VOFF=...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

AGM batteries do not gas during discharge and can be charged at up to .3C rate. Charge rate will taper after meeting bulk charge voltage setting. They most defiantly will if you try to draw a lot of current from them the gas can only recombine at a certain rate same goes for charging. AGM are VRLA ...

are your batteries cycling every night or are they a back up system. What do you mean by current availability? Yes its an off grid system that uses the grid as backup so while there is enough solar and battery no grid power is used. It runs the house fridge , freezer , computer , tv , lights , ACs ...

I have had some more time to work on charging the NiFe to 1.6 volts but not having them connected to the PIPs as the 60 volts or more is beyond there ratings. I wonder if a model with a 145V max solar charge controller might be quieter. They appear to be as my radio is still usable and running off the PIPs , but they still have a lot of RF getting out. RF interference is something that has been getting worse over time. I might have to get my spectrum ana...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

I thought the sensible thing is to leave the neutrals tied like so in blue:
In a number of countries the inverter must totally disconnect from the grid which is a safety concern for those working on the poles.
Without a proper earth on the neutral 125 volts or more can be put out on the neutral

Have had two fans fail I replaced them with spare from spare inverter
have a source of spares been found?
Note they may have not been working for a while but as the inverters have temp controlled external fans it still worked and could not overheat.

Re: Inverter for 48v off grid - PIP xxxxx or something else?

A problem I find with the PIP MPPT chargers is they are slow to re-calibrate thus the battery will end up having all the load applied to it until they do. I have Esmart 3 chargers and they simply ramp up, with my small set of T105 batteries now 6 years old its becoming a problem so I am going to mov...

I would not be running 48v for lighting even with the loss in the inverters 230v led lighting is much more efficient. I have compared 12v led lighting to 230v and I can light a whole room brightly with two 10 watt 230v down lights I could use 40 watts of 12v and not get it that bright I have 48v DC ...
