I bought the Kobalt 80V mower and trimmer on the weekend as well.

No complaints, very good. Can't beat that 50% off (+5% masters signup = 52.5% off).

Model 3 reservations available 31 March

I put down a deposit online in the lead up to the stream. The wait time (I estimate 3 years) will be useful for us to put the money together. Absolutely love the look of it - I think the interior needs to evolve a little, but there's plenty of time for that. It's a very exciting vehicle indeed. 250,...

Tesla HPWC adaptor >J1772

If you put aside the issue of Superchargers which I understand can't be used on non Tesla vehicles, would it be possible to source a compatible Tesla Type 2 Mennekes inlet ? What other challenges would be faced to make a J1772 adaptor? Yes, you can get the bits from aliexpress. I have bought from J...

The car has done the 1/4 mile in 9.89 at 140.5 mph, with 0-60 (mph) time of 1.79s. edit: (claimed on their website)

I really don't think it has a problem doing burnouts.

More likely he just likes making more smoke before having to back off.

Tesla HPWC adaptor >J1772

A simple adapter won't work with Tesla Superchargers, because the supercharger talks to the car's BMS via CAN (so the car can reduce the charge current when required) so you would need a device that simulates a Tesla, and provides a fake (but valid) VIN - and of course would need to translate that ...

I also got one of these from Amazon back in March 2015. Mine is model VC30GRYU. I use it to charge my conversion, which has a J1772 socket and an AVC2 from http://modularevpower.com/ The versicharge also charges my parent's leaf just fine. it's also charged an outlander PHEV. Nice to meet you and the family today Rod, The imiev looks great. I'll let you tell the story, but for the others, they are past Port Macquarie, so I'd call that half way.

Good luck with the rest of the drive!

Yeah I'm surprised by the comments. Very little EV bashing, lots of people just saying how cool it is.

Part 2 is out as well, where they have little success, so borrow a lithium pack and do a burnout. I guess it's pretty funny.

A video I was sent of the Sydney based Mighty Car Mods petrol heads playing around with a pretty old lead acid conversion.

yes, it's handy they bring out the centre terminal for BMS purposes.

So really, talking about the individual 30Ah pouch cells, the install will be 40S4P.

They're going to replace the 45S 144V 130Ah CALBs in my car, in 2P20S 120Ah configuration. Are you dropping your pack voltage down from 144V to around 80V? Nope, the leaf cells are approximately 3.7V (30Ah) nominal. Each module has 2S2P, so 7.4V (60Ah). with the modules connected 20S2P it will be 1...

Thanks for the post Lex. Please post the progress and results. Will do, once the mounting method for all the modules is sorted, it shouldn't take too long. here's a photo of the new modules and the old cells. The CALBs had top levelling strips but no active BMS, by the time I'd noticed they were ou...

Charging-J1772 Adapter & Better Place Stations

The J1772 adapter from EVNomics (as mentioned by MDK) is the one you want. The intuitive way to connect the L1 pin on the J1772 side is to the L1 pin on the mennekes side, however this means you would limit the max charging rate available. This is because the tesla on board charger is actually three...

Starting at about USD$100 a day for a model S from relay rides (the car equivalent of airBNB).

I remember seeing a tesla roadster for hire in LA.

What EVSE to replace dead Origin/ChargePoint?

I have heard about OpenEVSE and various roll-your-own solutions but we need something that is plug-and-play, vendor supplied & supported. I don't have an iMiev, but I bought a siemens versicharge EVSE from amazon USA - (for some reason it ships to australia). http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFVI92S/ref=pe_385040_127541850_TE_item It's easy to remove the american plug, L1 -> active, L2 -> neutral. I agree; open up the viewing to public. When I was searching for my EV I actually didn't use the forum for sale notices, as I thought it was the same as the AEVA membership. I later got an EV (which coincidentally was advertised here) realising only afterwards that the section was available for free...

I met with Marc on this trip, helped him to source a 3 phase charge point in PMQ. Nice guy doing a truly groundbreaking trip.
Nice car too (duh). His portable 3 phase connector he'd sourced from denmark (i think that's what he said) was brilliant.

Leaf Pricing

I would probably be interested in equal measure with either
a) A heavily discounted dealer USED car price on a 2011 build leaf or,
b) A New leaf with the latest improvements.

Maybe it's best to wait for the expected refresh.
